These are the main annual festivals celebrated in Antequera:
Semana Santa
Holy Week is an important religious and cultural event throughout Andalucia. It is celebrated with great fervor in Antequera and surrounding villages.
Señor de la Salud y de las Aguas
This is the “Lord of Health and Water” religious procession which involved parading an image of Jesus through the streets as locals follow in procession.
Spring Fair
This takes place in June and includes bullfights and an agricultural fair as well as all the traditional dancing, drinking, eating, music and wide variety of fair attractions for young and old alike.
Royal Fair of August
The Féria Real de Agosto claims to be one of the oldest in the country and involves a “romería” pilgrimage.
Nuestra Señora de los Remedios
The “Our Lady of the Remedy” procession is in honor of the city’s patron saint. It takes place on the 8th and 16th of September.
