THE VILLAGE
OF MONTEJAQUE
Montejaque
is one of the most central of the White Villages (Pueblos Blancos) for the
visitor who wishes to not only find the peacefull, relaxing way of Andalucian
village life but also, being central, allows the visitor to explore the
famous cultural cities of Ronda, Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada and Jerez. All
these cities are within reasonable driving distance from the village and
for the people who would like a day at the beach you have the town of San
Pedro less than an hours drive away.
Montejaque
is the ideal place for people wishing to escape from the hussle and bussle
of fast city life and relax in some of the prettiest surroundings one could
imagine. Set 745 metres above sea level and surrounded by stunning mountain
peaks, olive groves, cork forests and miles and miles of wonderful walking
country. In the spring-time, the keen botanist would find a fantastic range
of wild flowers, sun flowers, etc.
Everywhere
you look is a mass of colour. For the people who are keen bird-watchers,
depending on the time of the year, one can spot birds such as the Griffin
Vulture or the Golden Eagle gracefully hovering high
above the peaks. For the cavers you have the famous caves "La
Pileta", "El Hunderero" and "El
Gato" on your doorstep.
Mountain
bikers can spend hours of their time exploring on the many tracks that zig-zag
throughout the mountains.
Wild
flowers, rare birds, caves, walking, mountain biking, horse riding, balloon
trips, para-gliding and much more can be found in or around Montejaque.

The
village itself has several shops and supermarkets catering for all your
requirements run by the welcoming and friendly local people. The village
has all the necessary medical services, chemist, post office, etc. There
are two restaurants in the village and several small local bars. One bar
in particular, is very popular with our visitors (La Taberna)
