Wijjie
Moorish Heritage ContributorWijjie, as she is known, has lived in Andalucia since 2002. She came from Damascus, because she wanted to visit Cordoba, where her ancestors the Ummeyads ruled a thousand years ago, and Granada, because the Alhambra has so much in common with the architecture in Syria.
As she says, "I am only 22 so don't have much writing experience, but I won a literary prize in Sweden where I have been studying for the past 6 years. The subject of my prize winning essay was my grandmother in Damascus." Wijjie specializes in Andalusia's Moorish past: the Caliphate of Cordoba, the Alhambra, and many other aspects of Moorish heritage.
