Simón El Rubio (so called because of his fair hair) was born into a family of (ballet) dancers and lives in Estepona (Southern Andalusia, Spain). He studied both music and dance from an early age and taught himself to play the flamenco guitar. In his early days he studied ballet and modern dance with his father (ex UK Royal Ballet Principal and Choreographer Miro Zolan) and flamenco dance with Mariano Torres, Manolete, Carmen Cortès and Javier Latorre as well as flamenco guitar with Mario Escudero, Paco Peña and Victor Monge "El Serranito."

1990 and 1991: joined the Mariano Torres Spanish Dance Company on tour at the Barbican Hall London and throughout the UK.
1991: brought the fascinating flamenco dance drama "Gypsy Magic", a story of witchcraft, love and death, to London audiences.
1992: appeared as soloist in the theatrical work "Lorca".
1993: principal dancer and co-director of the innovative production combining tango and flamenco.
1994: tours to Colombia, Venezuela, Germany, Portugal, France, Great Britain, Pakistan, Spain. Danced at a Royal Gala in the presence of HRH The Prince Edward in Marbella, Spain.
In 1995 his latest production was presented in Hong Kong for the first time and subsequently toured through out Southern China with much acclaim.
1995-97: His current production Heartbeat is a fascinating combination of tango and flamenco and has been well received by international audiences. Tours to Portugal, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong, Macau, The Philippines and China.

Currently Simón continues to tread the road to artistic creation in dance, choreography and music offering an innovative and authentic presentation of flamenco throughout the world. The full company of up to 15 artists is suitable for medium to large theatres.
