Amigos de la Musica
Non profit, Marbella based international association
founded in 1970 is run by volunteers who arrange monthly classical
music concerts
of outstanding quality during their October to May season in the
Hotel El Fuerte. Musicians of excellence come from all over
the
world, or sometimes, young artists of note. Occasionally the association
presents an outstanding musical film such as an opera of Carmen
or Traviatta.
Amigos de la Musica's first President of Honour
was Arthur Rubinstein who in 1974 gave an unforgettable concert.
After his death Placido Domingo who has also performed in Marbella,
took over as President of Honour.
Annual subscriptions for the October to May season,
cost 90 euros singles, 130 euros double, 20 euros for juniors
(under
18) and 20 euros for patrons. 180 patron members. Members are entitled
to free admission to all eight concerts, advance notice of performances
and programs and discounts for extraordinary concerts.
Non members are welcome, tickets cost 20 euros and
are available at the door on the night or from Disco 2000 in Marbella,
Bookworld España in San Pedro Alcantara and the Longman's
