Nightlife on the costa del sol and andalucia
by Jane Love
Boasting some of the hottest restaurants and night spots in Spain, the Costa del Sol attracts visitors from all over Europe. From classy fine dining restaurants with views over the Mediterranean, to the more raucous karaoke bars and all night discos, there is something here for everyone. Casinos, English pubs, beach bars, tapas joints and the ever popular flamenco shows can all be found in the coast´s fabulous resort towns.
With more bars per square metre than anywhere else in Europe, Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, has become one of the most chic cities in Andalucia to eat and drink. Pavement cafés sit beside quirky boutique hotels and some of the finest tapas bars in Spain. Moving west along the coast, Torremolinos and Benalmadena are famous for their thriving nightlife, and ´open all hours´ mentality. Clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants can be found in and around the centre of these tourist hotspots, and the music keeps pumping all night. Benalmadena´s Marina area is home to some of the livelier nightclubs and seafront restaurants.
Fuengirola is still one of the most popular resorts on the Costa del Sol, and its amazing dining area, Fish Alley, continues to attract visitors from all over the coast. Everything is close together in this lively town, and hundreds of night clubs, bars and restaurants are situated within easy walking distance of each other.
For a more classy resort, head for Marbella which boasts some of Andalucia´s most renowned restaurants, discos and nightclubs.
Puerto Banus has retained its glitzy, star-studded image, and is still something of a people watchers paradise.
Estepona has evolved into a superb holiday resort, while still retaining much of its original charm. Most of the town´s nightlife is situated in the Puerto Deportivo, which is home to some of the area´s best fish restaurants, clubs, bars and discos.
