Sierra de Baza
This large mountain has peaks 2,200 metres high, and stands on the arid plain
Las Hoyas de Guadix-Baza that is fairly arid. It is relatively fertile
and its vegetation includes several types of pine, with holm oak
and, on the higher areas, gall oak, maple and stands of mountain
ash. The park is home to nearly a hundred endemic species exclusive
to the Iberian Peninsula, such as the rare dianthus, immortelle
and primrose. Fauna includes numerous species of birds of prey,
badgers, wildcat and genet.
