Alot of people pay in cash here.sometimes its dodgy sometimes legit.spain is very much a cash society. If you pay in cash make sure you get a reciept book and have them sign it to prove payment

Didnt realise people still use hotmail. Thought it went out with msn messenger etc! A decent mail provider should always provide a good spam filter.they shouldnt be reaching your inbox

From what I can gather from the comments so far is that the Spanish government would tax me on my total assets

You are only taxed on your earned income.ie a pension a wage,intrest off investments etc.theres no tax just for owning assets if thats make sense

Dont believe they will be able to use the spanish NHS as U.S citizens even if retired unless theres some sort of S1 style agreement between the two countries. Just back from a day trip to medina. I was very impressed.very easy drive and easy to find with the help of street view.
