Re: Improving my Wifi.

I will give that a try Enrique....connecting a new dualband router via ethernet cable should avoid the need to do this?
The clash seems to come because of the wireless transmitter on the dvd/home cine box, to a receiver at the other side of the room.

Improving my Wifi.

I have a 6Mbps internet supply, pretty reliable and just tested @7.1 download. I am using a re-broadcast system for the tv, waiting to see if the oft-promised fibre will reach our road before investing in SmartDNS and Samsung smart tv. I just dug out a Philips home cinema system that worked well in ...

Re: "Road Tax"

Comares were always happy to do it by DD. It only got awkward when we moved, as the payment became due some six months after we had gone, so all DDs were cancelled.

It is the other side of what so many say delights them about Spain....that it like the UK 40 or 50 years ago.

“you can select whether you are single, married, widowed or divorced“
As I asked above, does anyone know how an unmarried couple (but with a certificate of conjuge) must be treated? As Spanish couples do not have the same name would Hacienda query the status?

Re: actions to take after a suicide ...

According to Wikipedia “Suicide is the main cause of violent death in Spain, causing more deaths than road accidents. In 2010, 3,145 persons committed suicide in Spain” Around one third of those have been linked to evictions due to the economic crisis, but that still leaves a lot of unexplained suic...

Re: Renta 2017

The FAQ guide says “These figures apply to the income of the family unit.” Is there a definition of what a family unit is? We are not married, but do have a Certificado de conjugue and are one of each gender. Does the state regard us as a couple for tax purposes, or two separate people who happen to...

Re: Selling Property in Spain

Both parties will save a little bit of tax, but take your abogado’s advice on how far to go with value of the contents. If and when your buyer comes to sell he may be making himself liable to a higher capital gains tax, buying cheaper, especially if the property market changes while they own it. As ...

Re: Renta 2017

I have read that the box for ‘exenta’ Crown pensions has changed this year from 470 to 480. Can any of you ‘early bird’ submitters confirm or contradict this, particularly if you have a Crown pension? Despite extensive research I can find no explanation as to exactly why and how filling in this exem...

Re: Renta 2017

Hopefully a final point, what was the official exchange rate for 2016 please? You give 2015 @ 1.3777 €/£, and 2017 @ 1.1413 but I cannot see the middle year.

“Get another Gestor or go to the tax office and get them to do it. That said, they don’t understand annuities or UK Crown pensions either. Better still, do it yourself, it’s pretty easy and the new Renta Web system is very good.” Is there any way you could point me to the relevant information about ...

Re: Renta 2017

Clarification please....having missed the self-declaration date last year for 2016 return I am having to use a gestor :-( She says that I should not have declared my OH’s income the previous year because her state pension is below the 12000€ threshold, whereas I did because she also gets a Crown pen...

If you are going to ask about it maybe worth knowing it is the “IVTM”.
And if you cannot say that in Spanish you should be on the naughty step.

Re: Using UK driving licences in Spain

"use it until the photo needed renewing" makes sense, would be the same as the rules for using UK ones in Europe.

Re: Using UK driving licences in Spain

There is little uniformity in lots of rules across the EU. Take the conditions for residency in the UK compared to Spain for example, or for state health care.
In any case the UK will not be a member soon, so what “they” do will not be the same as what “we” do.

Re: Windows 10 and Skype

I find Skype too massive, and if it is amongst your startup programmes it adds a long time. Normally we use our iPads with Facetime, but for non-Apple recipients the Messenger audio or video works well.
