Re: Chainsaw Purchase

Before driving a car there is training (optional I suppose) and testing of competence, plus laws on how they should be used, plus copious safety measures like seat belts, fitness testing ( both car and driver in Spain), which makes them a country mile from Pepe Bloggs walking in to a ferreteria and ...

Just take a look at how much time a recognised trainer advises, and what a range there is....http://www.andyschainsawtraining.co.uk/courses/
In my view they are as potentially lethal as a shotgun, and should be as restricted in a similar way.

Re: Chainsaw Purchase

If you prefer having two legs - or indeed don't fancy having to get an automatic! - take note of the proper gear - helmet/visor, protective gloves and "chainsaw" trousers. They are not for casual amateurs. I lost a good friend years ago who was up a tree, pruning, slipped and the saw swung...

Re: Ryanair luggage change

We just did a week, like costakid return Murcia/Leeds Saturday to Saturday was €36 each, one 20kg case €50 return, and car parking 25m from the ‘Llegadas’ entrance was €32.20.

Re: Ryanair luggage change

I cannot see a solution to this: people who travel with cabin bags normally want them with them in the cabin for a quick exit. In a 180-seat aircrfaft there is room for c. 90 bags overhead, so as soon as 50% of the passengers pay for priority boarding Ryanair have two options: assume all priority pa...

Re: Spain isnt cheap

We have just had a week in Leeds (Ryanair €36 return pp, case cost more @ €50!) and had excellent meals for two @ £8.99 the both. Even with the eye-watering price of £3.79 for a glass of wine the total was 2/3rds what we would have paid in our local restaurant here. Anyone in Leeds could do worse th...

“ just paid 30 euros for maintenance of our 2 cards”
If you make at least 50 transactions a year using your debit cards (each card), not counting cash withdrawls, the cards should be free. You can monitor usage if you use online banking, but need access number and password for each card.

Re: driving licence

You would have to be able to do the theory and practical motorcycle tests in Spanish, and I am not at all sure they woukd be happy with two different licences from two countries.... Whilst your current licence is still valid, it may be easier to just use that (assuming you now have full licence for ...

First question is do you have a valid motorcycle licence as well as cars, second is is your licence an EU one?

you could also ask a local charity shop - they may recycle, upcycle or give away stuff and often collect.

Re: Spain isnt cheap

The plus point of high second-hand values of cars in Spain is that depreciation is less, so you should get more for your car when it comes time to sell or trade-in. Same as in the UK, buy a car with a full manufacturer's service history and you should be OK....at least there will be no body erosion ...

Re: Buying from Amazon...

My point was of course that rather than simply accept the Amazon price, it could be worthwhile checking the price direct with their supplier....a bit like going to an hotel’s website after checking on Bookings.com or whatever.

Buying from Amazon...

Just a note of caution if you are looking to buy through Amazon.es. They sent me one of their “you have been looking” mails about a fridge/freezer on offer @€385 + €20 carriage, supplied by electrocosto. What caught my eye was that we had bought this same combi direct from electrocosto this month fo...
