Re: Tax Declaration

We had a similar letter from LaCaixa (KYC - Know Your Customer) asking for information including the tax return which, as non-residents we do not have. We visited our local branch where the English speaking assistant entered all the information he could. This included a copy of a passport in place o...

Re: iPlayer on Android

An update on this bug. I reported it to SmartyDNS and one day later everything is working fine again. Not sure whether they have done something or perhaps it was just "one of those things". But the good service now resumed (I link my Android Kodi TV box to a TP Link router which is set up ...

Re: iPlayer on Android

Thanks GerryH for raising a ticket. I should have done this but, as my SmartyDNS seems to be working fine for the NOW box with iPlayer, I assumed this might not be a Smarty issue. All my copies of iPlayer are up-to-date, except possibly the version in the NOW box, which does make me wonder if some e...

iPlayer on Android

I'm having trouble with BBC iPlayer on my Android devices. I use Smarty DNS and this is working fine with my NOW tv box. But with other devices, although I can get catch-up from iPlayer, they all fail on live programmes with "this content is not currently available". I have only just retur...

Thanks Frank.

That gives me about 3 firms now. I'll get shopping for quotes.

Re: Car Hire

On a slightly different aspect of car hire, I'll be needing to hire at Malaga Airport in September but dropping off at La Linea 5 days later. My normal hire firm don't offer this. I've seen a few firms that do. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for this sort of arrangement?

Re: instant gas water heaters

Hi Enrique, Happy New Year
Never fixed the water heater. I think it's a problem with the internal valve (unless a mouse has crawled up the pipe).
Rather than mess about, it'll be a new like for like unit from Bricomart next time we fly in. And much more I suspect.

Re: instant gas water heaters

Thanks Barry and everyone else. I think it is probably the cold. Almost done here for this trip. Will try to find a full cure next visit (hopefully warmer by then. Meanwhile, whereas that kettle......?

Re: instant gas water heaters

I should have checked before I last replied. Of course there is a battery. Changed it. Still no luck but pilot is trying - it's popping 4 or 5 times but not catching. Full bottle, tried 2 regulators. Seems just too cold for the gas!

Re: instant gas water heaters

Unfortunately just push to spark (which it is). And I've swapped the regulator. But no sign of gas for the pilot. It lives outside in an open lean to so may have suffered a bit this winter.

Re: instant gas water heaters

Anyone know of a gas service engineer in the Estepa area? Our water heater has decided not to ignite after 3 months idle. Thermocouple or sticking valve perhaps? What a nice time to fail!
