Re: World Cup 2018

So if the two football teams ran round and round the pitch in formation with one guy in front wearing a yellow jersey, that would be more interesting would it? #justsaying

Re: Bb4spain & iplayer

I fell out with BB4S a few months ago. Fibre optic became available in Nerja so I asked BB4S if I could keep their iptv on subscription (€15 per month) if I changed to Axartel fibre optic internet. They refused so I ditched them completely. I established that their premium iptv inc Sky is illegal so...

Re: Patio chair cushions

Thanks Wicksey, I gave up and went to Ikea!
A bit more expensive but better quality and they had the right colour!

Patio chair cushions

Does anyone know of large China Bazaar shops in the Malaga to Nerja area currently having stocks of patio chair cushions? We're looking for a colour match and need to search around!
It's the larger lounger types we need, not the small dining chair type.
Many thanks in great anticipation!

Re: Bramley apple trees

The last time my family was involved in a plant "blight" was in 1855 in Ireland when, as a result of the Potato famine, my great great grandfather eloped to the cotton mills of Lancashire with his childhood sweetheart ( they were both 14 years old). I wouldn't dream of besmirching his memo...

Re: Bramley apple trees

Thanks for the advice. I've been Google researching the topic too today and found this. As our chosen garden area seldom gets full sun and in view of this recent winter weather, I think we'll give it a try!

Bramley apple trees

Is there any reason why a Bramley apple tree, brought over from the UK, would not grow/ flourish in Spain ?

Re: Malaga vs Barca tickets

If Malaga had shown this commitment earlier in the season they wouldn’t be where they are now. The biggest problem is they cant score. En - Nesyri was completely isolated up front with no support from the midfield. He vainly attempted constantly to force his way through a solid Barca defense but st...

The game this Saturday will be your best opportunity to see Messi score a hat trick!
Cross that one off your bucket list!

Re: Price of paracetemol in Spain

My daughter in law works for a well known pharmacy in a Uk Suppermarket and i was asking her why some are running at a loss...She told me that apart from prescriptions and some items which may not be stocked by the suppermarket people generally just buy their medicine from the suppermarket shelf......

Re: The rain in Spain

You are correct Flexo that water also evaporates from plants through the stomata which are pores. These pores are mostly on the underside of leaves however to prevent excessive evaporation. The process is called Transpiration. I referred to Photosynthesis in terms of water use by the fig plant in Lav...

Price of paracetemol in Spain

I believe that Paracetemol can only be purchased in Pharmacies in Spain.
A pack of 20 x 500mg generic tablets cost me €4 today in a Nerja Pharmacy.
Thats over 10x the cost of an equivalent pack in a UK Supermarket!

Re: The rain in Spain

I'm no agriculturalist but, presumably the water that irrigates the trees goes back into the land and into the water table but some of the water must stay in the fig to swell them and make them nice and succulent. I can't help it! I used to be a Biology teacher! Photosynthesis is the process whereb...

Re: The rain in Spain

This seems to be an endemic problem in Spain. Just up the road from us in Nerja is the new, vastly expensive, new sewage treatment plant, albeit 20 years late in being built. It’s 99% complete but the construction company has now gone bust and no one will put up the money to lay the pipe work to th...

Re: The rain in Spain

I'm no weatherman but the current position of the Jetstream, and it's predicted path could explain our weather forecast in Spain and the cold spell in the UK. Normally the Stream is hovering over Northern Europe with Spain mostly below in the warmer latitudes. https://s10.postimg.org/syg5kjblh/IMG_1...

Re: Translation

Manchesteral, this is not the virus which was doing the rounds recently. It is completely different and is not taken from the internet. I took the photo from a building and genuinely wish to know the translation.
