Re: Sliding patio Doors

From a Spanish web seller of such things "Conjunto de rodillos para puerta o ventana".
Quite close to the usually dodgy Google translation.

Re: Shower.

Sounds like those with gas boilers have problems. What size is the boiler, how old is it, when was it last cleaned/ descaled. An 11litre gas boiler from a half decent manufacturer (junkers, viallant) will do a great job. Our place had the boiler outside (in a cupboard) close to the bathroom. Very qu...

Re: Mature Fruit Trees

Water is also an issue in Competa due to cost and availability. We are lucky to have both low cost water when irrigation is needed and land that holds a reasonably high water table. Thus we have been successful with; oranges, lemons, avocados, plums, grapes, nispero, peach, lime, kaffir lime and I'm...

Re: Renault Capture

Having suffered two total dogs of Renaults and the, at best, indifferent service I would never have any car with a Renault connection again. Modern Citroens have some funky designs, love them or hate them, but also have well documented longevity problems. The only French cars I've been happy with ar...

Re: Mozailla Firefox

I would agree that Firefox has become troublesome over recent months, with no amount of cache cleaning or even reinstalling (having used FFs cleaner) curing the problem. For example, in my current location, the EasyJet site refuses to load any input data, defaulting back to the home page. Sites I us...

Re: Movistar Fibre

Movistar have always played the same game. Move the goal posts when they feel like in order to charge more. Left them a long time ago and never returned. All the providers have their faults of course but I personally found Movistar's dishonest accounting too much to endure. Jazztel offer very good p...

Don't forget English run restaurants with bad Spanish translations! One that stuck in my amused mind was; rollito de muella.......spring roll but the coiled metal kind.

Re: Airport transfer help

Sylvia is the best value taxi we've used as well. Alternatively get the bus shuttle from airport to Malaga bus station. Then take an Alsa bus to Torre Del Mar to catch Loymerbus from Torre (15 min walk between bus stations allowing for slow stroll with luggage) for the 12:30, 14:00 or 19:30 service ...

Re: Is cheating on?

Cheating does seem to be far more prevalent these days, with technology and indifference paving the way. I'm not sure that the modern classwork backed assessment system is any better though. When I went through school I doubled up on several subjects taking both CSE and O-Level. Without cheating I s...

I was asked for a license for the first time just a week ago.
On saying I didn't have one I was presented with Roundup sachets of powder, each one good for 15l of murdering. Seems to work the same as ready made liquid. Die ya little wot nots!

Just turn it off in settings. You can decide to sort the inbox into Focused or other, or you can do neither. Go to Settings, Options, Layout, Focused Inbox. Sid Beat me to it! Both outlook and gmail can give strange problems especially after an update. I use both and have them linked so that if one...

Dogs in restaurants...latest?

I overheard a discussion between a waiter and diners where the waiter stated that they could not allow the couples pet inside as the law forbade it. The customer then said that the law for Andalucia, at least, had changed late 2016 to put the choice with the restaurant owners. Like myself the waiter...

Re: Am I being hacked

Yep, that's quite true. IFAIK we now have a reasonable list amongst the posts of the precautions to take. The more difficult you make it for someone to hack in the more likely said hacker will move on to someone elses network  Without some pretty serious software and hardware a determined hack...

Re: Am I being hacked

I was just having another look at my routers settings and it has a new feature. If someone does get past your security settings (actually not that difficult), instead of blocking unfamiliar MACs as I stated above, you choose "Enable MAC filtering", fill in all of your family's devices MAC ...

Re: Am I being hacked

Routers have there own physical "address" (typed into your normal top internet search bar) that is accessable from, at least, the main computer on the system if not all devices with permission. A password is required for this. If you do not have the address for your router , obtain it from...

Re: On a Scale of 1 to 10 how high would you rate living in Andalucia??

I'm assuming you are USA citizens from your statement "moving from the states"? For example, the majority of members here are from other European countries and will, therefore, have quite a different take on life in Andalucia than you may. For example, members from the UK are used to a nat...

Re: Prunning vines

We have two vines (both inherited from the previous owners), one which also provides shade, we let grow two seasons and then hard prune back. It gives an excellent crop every year which we let a neighbour pick for his wine making in exchange for other produce. We don't irrigate as the soil is very g...
