Re: Pink Purple Zep Fest II - ESTEPONA ROCKS - 28th & 29th June

Very tempted, although Estepona is quite a drive away. Saw Think Floyd and Whole Lotta Led several times, although it was before we moved to Spain so a good 10 years ago. They were both excellent especially Think Floyd, could've been actual Floyd on stage. Their finishing number Comfortably Numb was...

Re: Torrox

Turns out it's called el Figon. My gestor who's office is virtually next door says that it is really good, possibly the best restaurant in the pueblo and probably needing a reservation. Haven't tried it myself but methinks thst i will be in the not to distant future.

Re: Torrox

Successful trip then. Couple of friends of ours have also recently rented a flat in the plaza.

Enjoy Torrox.

Ps had a hot tip for a restaurant in Torrox pueblo, called el Pilar, or something similar. Apparently excellent and busy.

Re: Torrox blue parking

Went into the tourist office today. Turns out that it is correct that on the Costa they only operate July and August. Also turns out that you can't buy the clocks until the end of June..

Mystery solved... Thanks for your input everyone

Re: Pool lighting dilemma

I actually have no idea what the current lamps rating is. Just went into a pool shop and asked for par56 light for my pool please. But these are filament bulbs so their power rating bears no telation to that quoted for led lamps. Far as i can see the power rating gives no clues as to the actual numb...

Re: Pool lighting dilemma

Hi Gerry Underwater. They should be a drop in replacement for the existing bulbs, don't even need to mess with the psu since they are ac/dc. Now the water is warm enough to get in and change them. These are the ones on Amazon.es, the same, or they look the same apart from the remote control which ar...

Pool lighting dilemma

We all like a bit of colour in our lives, especially my better half. I am looking to replace the standard white pool lights which cost an arm and a leg and only seem to last 5 minutes with a couple of these new fangled multicolour LED Par56 devices. Almost pressed the button on 2 x 36 watt lamps on ...

Re: Torrox

Didn't try their MOD, We had the fixed menu for 4 at the back end of the menu. Starters, ribs, crispy duck, followed by 4 dishes and rice. I say fixed he was happy to substitute chicken for prawn in one dish as my wife seems to have developed a shellfish allergy recently. All were excellent and very...

Re: Torrox

Buddha house, head out of Torrox on the coast road towards Nerja. Guess it's 1km or so on your left hand side. Couple of hundred meters after the roundabout. Careful you don't miss it tho as it's easy to drive past being partially concealed by trees and basuras. No problem parking right outside. If ...

Generally I'm not a big fish eater in restaurants. But the Prawn and Rape (monkfish) brochetes are excellent.

Re: Torrox

You'll need to eat. Allow me to suggest several excellent restaurants. Buddha House just out of Torrox on the coast road, Indian and one of the best for miles around. Ichiban, Chinese on the paseo which we only recenly discovered and probably the best chinese food we have had on the CDS. Thai-pas by...

Re: Looking for a holiday home around Competa, Sedella and Salares

Up here we're lucky if thay are only 2 abreast, generally a lycra clad pack totally oblivious to the tailback they are causing. Bad enough, but also considering their complete contempt for red lights and zebra crossings. No wonder they have a bad name. On occasion you get a boy racer flying down the...

Re: Looking for a holiday home around Competa, Sedella and Salares

Cant speak for the Competa/Torrox road as we rarely use it so not as familiar with it. Maybe you should try it and then you will realise what some of us are talking about. Sid I have tried it quite a few times actually and yes i agree it is very windy, but certainlt not dangerous. The reason i use ...

They were filming in our village of Sayalonga several months ago along with Competa. Watched the program and the Sayalonga village house the participants were shown couldnt have been further away from their brief. One of our friends is an estate agent in Competa and was on the program showing a coup...

Re: Looking for a holiday home around Competa, Sedella and Salares

No barriers? Maybe 20 years ago. Cant speak for the Competa/Torrox road as we rarely use it so not as familiar with it. But the Competa/Algarobbo road has barriers all the way along and has for the 10 years we've lived here. I do hear old people tell stories of years gone by when there were no barri...

Re: Looking for a holiday home around Competa, Sedella and Salares

The road up from the coast is a nightmare. Ok on a 1 off but not one you would want to do on a regular basis. Don't even think about doing it at night! Sid Why not? Don't have much choice in the winter months. Seems to me that these roads are being portrayed as much worse than they actually are. Th...
