Re: Tahini

Or order chilli seeds from one of the myriad suppliers on the Internet. Will be getting mine once we get back from vacation. As Sid say they freeze well and lose none of their heat when thawed. I have an entire freezer shelf full of them. Easy to grow. Maybe it my dirt but I have much better success...

Re: rhd car in spain

Been driving my RHD Merc on Spanish plates for 10 years now. Only problem I've had with spare parts are new windscreen wipers, the type with aerofoils that keep the pressed against the screen. Never worked very well and took me ages to figure out that they were upside down and couldn't be fitted the...

Friend just used Schmidt Construction to fit their new septic tank. He's normally not shy to complain but was well pleased with their work.

Re: Best thing since sliced bread, possibly

The cables I was referring to are not type C. They are like standard micro USB type b, but have two sockets and the metal outer is formed in such a way that they can be plugged in either way up into a standard micro USB socket fitted to myriad devices.

I still think that thay are magic.

Re: PAYG Orange Sim

Odd that as I used to have a UK orange PAYG sim and I'm pretty sure credit disappeared even when the phone was mostly turned off as it was only used when we went back to the UK. Swapped it for a three sim and credit doesn't vanish anymore

Re: Bottled gas - how does it work?

Depends on the time of year as in the winter the incoming water is colder and so needs more heating. We run a bath every night and 1 bottle lasts between 6 weeks and 3 months, give or take.

Re: Bottled gas - how does it work?

As already been said just go to repsol garage, pay some money and exchange for full.

Important though you are legally only allowed to carry two cylinders in your car at one time and they must be tied down.

Re: fee-free bank account

We've had the Sabadell free account for years. Have to pay in 700e per month to qualify. Seems to work as we have never had charges since we signed up. In addition you get cashback on monthly bills paid by DD, 5% I think it is, and a repsol card that also gives 5% off everything bought at Repsol gar...

I have their current app installed so hopefully it'll upgrade itself when the new version is launched. That's what they say will happen. But I want to play (throw toys out of pram) now.. :-)

Re: Uk owned share

I have a bunch of money in funds managed by a well known finance company here in Spain. When I sell (crystallise) some funds to get spending money the company pre-pays the tax due on the capital gain to the hacienda. Normally I do this in December. When I file my tax returns in the following year, w...

Re: Chromecast

Maybe I'm being a little simplistic here but can you not screencast from your tablet to your smart TV? Even my (semi) smart LG has a cast app on it.

Have you tried using the android app saludresponde for making appointments? Very simple to use even for a non-fluent Spanish speaker. Get t it on the playstore.

Re: Chromecast

I wonder what it was you expected from Chromecast that it didn't do? Nothing particularly complicated. I purchased the chromecast specifically for this and I simply wanted to cast uktv on my tablet to a TV in a Spanish hotel room. Had it working at home no problem. But when we got to the hotel I hi...

Re: Chromecast

I'm certainly no expert on chromecast having sold mine after figuring out it didn't do what I wanted. But just seen this posting on Facebook by the folks from smartdnsproxy which certainly seems to say that you can cast from your pc/tablet/phone to your chromecast and hence to the TV. https://www.sm...

Yada Yada Yada is simply an alternative to etc etc etc or so on and so on, all of which save a lot of typing and are in very common use both written and verbally. I rubbished nobody's contribution. Especially when you, the author of the post to which I responded took it in good grace and in the spir...
