Re: Importing a car; what's the best order of biz?

Not tricky as I would get my Gestor to do it all, apart from the ITV which would fall to my local garage. I made a decision within a few months of moving here, that is never tangle with be Spanish administration when you can pay someone to fight the fight for me.... I have lived a very frustration f...

Re: Importing a car; what's the best order of biz?

Thanks Sid. Bit more searching after my post and I found these numbers, along with the original price of the car. So I'm getting there.

What I'm missing, and this could be a deal breaker is whether VAT needs to be paid on a car imported from Gib. In the EU but weird tax status.

Re: Importing a car; what's the best order of biz?

The tax office publishes a very long list of all cars with their emissions % and original price. Sid Is this list accessible on-line. I'm contemplating buying a car from a dealer in Gib as it's a good price and low mileage. However Import duty (or registration) may make it not financial worth while...

No alternative recommendations then? There are dozens of parking companies around the airport some of which must have been used by the folks on here.

Re: Solar heat swimming pool

We have a professionally installed solar heating system fitted to our pool, although for a number of reasons it's not in use at the moment. Why do you want a separate pump? Our heating tube is inline with the normal water flow through the main pump. You're probably going to need a lot mor than 200m ...

Since this isn't an advert the discussion can be widened for recommendations

Looking for recommendations for reliable alternate companies who do car pickup/dropoff at departures.

Re: Smarty DNS

If I change to samartdnsproxy do I just change it in the router or do I have to do something to all the TVs? That depends how you have stuff configured for your current service. If you only have DNS configured on your router, then simply change its settingsbto smartdnsproxy's DNS servers. If you ha...

Re: Smarty DNS

Been using smartdnsproxy for 18 months or so. Has proved to be very reliable and I have had no issues with BBC or any other UK services, even tvplayer is working a treat. On the odd occasion that I have contacted support their have been very responsive. Would recommend them without hesitation.

Re: ?how long before letting a kitten outside?

We rescued, or should I say kidnapped a kitten from the village a few month ago. I guess it was around 6 months old at the time and used to people since it and it's siblings scrounged food from the restaurants in the village, hence no problem catching it. The following day we took it to a vet to be ...

We bought our current Smart car from Malagacarhire near the airport. Good price and they handled all of the transfer process. A delight to do business with.

Re: Built in log burner problem

There are a couple of screws at the bottom of the facia which after several days of WD40 do turn. But at the top of the fire there is a knob that controls a flap in the flue. Looks like this knob needs to be removed for the facia to come off. I know that the bolts that hold the actual flap to the sh...

Built in log burner problem

Morning all. We have a built in log burner that has a couple off fans that circulate warm air into the room. It is around 10 years old and one of the fans has seized and needs replacing. Surprising how much difference to the room temp one broken fan makes. I have no experience of these and no real i...

Anybody had an ITV done at the Algarrobo ITV station recently? Did they ask for the insurance documentation? My car is insured, with Linea Directa, but I appear to have mislaid the documents.   Cheers Gerry Had my car ITVd at Algarobbo a few weeks ago. Normally I get my local gar...

Re: New to Pool Maintenance..

I can never tell whether the pH is correct with either the strips or drop testers. So I use a pH meter, which are pretty cheap from eBay or Chinese shops. I use Aquacheck strips for everything else. Shows a little purple then I have sufficient chlorine. Other people prefer the drops, or tablets. Non...
