Re: Ryanair £2 delay/cancel levy

Thanks for the info. I did look in their news section, but couldn't see it, so obviously I must have been half asleep! I agree with you too on this, just wondered what it was all about. Wonder when the other airlines will follow suit?

Ryanair £2 delay/cancel levy

Does anyone know what the £2 compulsory delay/cancel levy charge is on Ryanair flights? As usual, they've not announced anything on their news page because it isn't good news....

Re: Nationwide no longer free from Nov

Nationwide are obviously feeling the 'credit crunch' (ha ha) by making a charge for overseas ATM withdrawals. We rent our house in the UK and have had notification that they are making a charge for this from December onwards, presumably because the interest rates are so low they have to make their m...

Re: Don't forget to renew your EHIC

Yes but only covered for EMERGENCY treatment if you are not a pensioner. Anyone else needs to take out travel insurance if they are visitors, or pay into the system if you are living in Spain. Take the case of the woman who broke her back in Greece and thought they were covered by the EHIC - they we...

Re: Ryanair cabin baggage

I agree with most of the comments made here - both good and bad. I have always flown Ryanair and found them to be punctual - I returned on a Monarch flight on Wednesday from Gatwick to Alicante and it was delayed an hour. Very frustrating as I was dying for a ciggie!!!! At least Ryanair are on time ...

Re: Nationwide petition against charges.

I am with Nationwide too, have been well before I came to Spain. However, please note that Manchester is not in LANCASHIRE, but in GREATER MANCHESTER so another county must be added to the drop down list GREATER MANCHESTER. Sorry to be petty, but that is how it works these days... I still say no to ...

Re: Spain whinges at the cost of treating foreigners.

Well my mum has been diagnosed with breast cancer (she is a pensioner) and her consultant at Baza, Granada province, told her that all female relatives had to have a mammogram. That means me who lives here and my sister and Auntie who both live in the UK. After seeing the doctor here and filling in ...

Re: No smoking ban in force from 1st Jan 2011

Well originally, the Government were going to enforce 'smoking' and 'non smoking' area in pubs, restaurants etc. but then they suddenly changed their minds and declared that all public places are non smoking except for private clubs, some Government offices etc. so really that is not fair. One rule ...

Re: Horrible weather in June!

Crikey Rick, we're not that daft!! And we have our own remote control person (my son!) to change the channels, turn up the volume and pass the drinks to us, who will not be in the hot tub! Oh and peel the grapes for us too.... Seriously, the weather at this time of year is quite unusual. Today in Ga...

Re: NIE no.

OK, we wanted to get our son NIE and residencia as he starts high school in Sept. Off they go to Baza, back they come for birth certificates (they took passports and padron). Oh, they said, we can't issue Josh (son) with NIE or Residencia because he doesn't have a 'full form birth certificate'. They...

Ha ha, we did too, got all my 'summer gear' out and then what - blinking weather changed just as we had set up hot tub (and turned it down as it was too hot!) and set up TV ready to watch World Cup in the hot tub...mmmm someone is against us all!! There must be a conspiracy somewhere to stop us enjo...

Re: No smoking ban in force from 1st Jan 2011

Ah, but have they actually PROVED that passive smoking causes death or lung cancer? I think the debate is still out. A friend of mine's mother died of lung cancer - never smoked, never went in smoky places - so what caused that? Unfortunately smoking is blamed for a lot of diseases and cancer becaus...

Re: Today's strike (8th June)

It's not the poor civil servants that should have a 5% pay cut, but the fat cats that are at the top as in the UK. I have never agreed with strikers no matter what the cause - if they go on strike, sack them - there are enough unemployed people to take their place. (Well as long as they are legitima...

Crikey, what is happening to the weather? What is it like where you live? In Granada province it is raining and windy tonight and will be for the next 4 days! Where has all the good weather gone???

Re: And you want me to put my hand luggage where??

I think certain people have missed my point here. What I am trying to say is that every time I have flown with Ryanair, they are always rushing you to put your luggage in the overhead compartments so they can take off on time and there is always a problem finding space. I always take hand luggage wi...

Re: No smoking ban in force from 1st Jan 2011

Did any of you non smokers complain when you were in the bars in the 60's, 70's, 80's plus when smoking was freely allowed? In those days it was a sociable thing to do, smoke. But, I don't think that smoking is good for anyone (even being a smoker myself) and like Julian said, as long as smoke is no...

Re: No smoking ban in force from 1st Jan 2011

No not really. A friend of mine had a pub which she had to give up 18 months ago because takings were well down. It is not worth having a pub in UK now. She had a local pub where men used to go for a quiet pint and a secret smoke - not any more. She also had pool, darts and football teams there as w...
