The price seems very high indeed. I am amazed at how easily people pay for services up front. Do you also pay for next weeks groceries and petrol in advance? It is not unreasonable to pay a 10% deposit to a professional when you place your instructions, and the rest *after* he has done the work. I t...

Re: One escritura or two? And tax question.

You would only have 2 escrituras if that was what the previous owner had. This sometimes arises if the building is added to the property later, or if there are 2 totally distinct parcelas which have been bought seperately by some previous owner. The catastral document will possibly help you unravel ...

The horizontal distance the waters edge moves with the tide is a factor of the slope of the shoreline versus the tidal range, and will vary from place to place quite markedly, even in a small area.

I was aware of the commentators sarcasm when he was here - - he is also the director, camerman, etc, etc. The show is a bit of a one-man-band and it apparently relies on the Snails making complete idiots of themselves - which they seem to be able to do with or without TV coverage. I don't give a fig...

If you get on well with the folks in the Ayuntemiento, go back and ask them what is going on. The IBI might be being paid direct form someone's bank account!!! They should certainly tell you more than just "come back next year" - that's ridiculous. Ask them why, what is happening, who is registered ...

The effect of atmospheric pressure is interesting indeed. Normal atmospheric pressure is around 30 inches of mercury. Given that mercury weighs 13.5gms/cc as opposed to water weighing 10gm/cc, that means the pressure is equivalent to about 405 inches of water - around 34ft. A severe storm might lowe...

Re: Who is responsible for IBI payment?

No Its not a small amount and I am unsure as to why you would assume it was. Sorry - I assume too much - just because mine is :( Ive just called the agent (Spanish) who in turn has convinced my buyer to split the IBI 50-50 and is going with him to the Town Hall now to pay it all and get my contribu...

Re: whats youre definition of a finca and cortijo?

Curious as to the constant reference to fincas and cortijos on this group I just wondered if the definition was different in your part of the world than it is here around Valencia? For what it's worth - I live on a finca - that's what it's called in the escritura, and by the locals. It has 0.65 hec...

The debT stays with the property only as a last resort, if they can't trace the person. Going back to UK is no defence - they will trace you back there as well, now that teh EU has got inter-country agreements on such matters.

It is curious, though, that Spyware Blaster treats terra.es as a restricted site. Re: Who is responsible for IBI payment?

Now the new owner is demanding I pay the next one as he has been told that the person who is in occupation on 1st Jan pays the IBI. He is correct. You should have retained that portion of the IBI due to be paid by the seller when you bought the property. It's probably a small amount anyway, so it m...

Just to show that Venice suffers from high tides http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/world/europe/4292374.stm It should be borne in mind that tides are not the only reason for sea level changes. There is a strong effect from the wind in the Med, with prolonged southerly winds causing increased levels in the...
