Re: Taxing a car I won't own

Hello Gerry.
The problem is I won't be able to get the bill to pay it, as we will have moved elsewhere.

Taxing a car I won't own

We are considering selling one of our cars, to update it. We have had an offer that is a fair one. The car is (in theory) taxed, but the bill for this won't arrive until late April/May. We are also in the process of moving to southern France. So how can I tax the car as I can not rely on the new occ...

Peteroldracer

Peter, that's a very sad storey.
It is not the sort of story that is published in the major press about Ryanair. So beneath the gritty PR skin of Ryanair, there is some charity and warmth. Just a little.

A really touching post on your part.

Re: Payment of 3% When a Non Resident's Property is Sold

Beachcomber I am sure this has been covered somewhere, but I can't find what I want. How exactly is CGT calculated and who acutually pays it to the authority? For example, let's say we bought our house for €120,000 and sold it for €195,000. And assume we spent say €25,000 on improvements. Do we say,...

Re: Seven and a half ton box vans

jimbo Quite a few years back, I was the Transport Manager of a small company operating luton vans, seven and a half tonners, and a couple of artics etc. in those days (unless you had grandfather rights) you had to get a CPC to hold this position. Anyway, more importantly, you had to do 'spot checks'...

Re: Driving England to Anderlucia

Manchesteral. I don't think it is Dutch, it is Latin. Ex tempore literally meaning 'out of time'. It is normally spelt 'extempore'. Katy. You are right, but it was hard not to miss Manchesteral's grandiose description of his voyage through Europe. Back on track now. Computeral, I apologise for going...

Re: Driving England to Anderlucia

Manchesteral

On the subject of spelling, what sort of word is 'extemporaire'? It isn't English, it doesn't appear to be French and it certainly isn't Spanish.

Re: Driving England to Anderlucia

Computeral. It is an easy and very pleasant trip to make. Porstsmouth to Santander or Bilbao. Basically, you can travel down the western side of Madrid, or the eastern side of Madrid, depending where you are aiming for in Andalucia. Finding accomodation is actually quite simple. We often use Booking...

Re: Scrapping a Spanish registered car in the UK

Peter. I understand you - I made a mistake saying 2019 in my post. I should have said 'to the end of Dec 2018'. So, if I remaian the owner on the 2nd January 2019, which I will be, I am still liable for the tax payment for the whole of 2019, irrespective of what I do with the car. Understood. Thanks...

Sid.
So when I paid my car
tax last May (2018) the car tax is valid until December 2019? Have I got that right?

Thanks for that, I will contact this company you mentioned. As you say they may be able to repair it and then sell it on.

By the way, do you know when the car tax year is here. I pay the car tax every April/May, but the paperwork doesn't actually say when the tax is valid until?

Cheers

Thanks for the info and the link. The information regarding scrapping foreign registered cars is very thin, but I will investigate further.
Can I obtain a notification of destruction myself, or do I have to go through a Gestor?

Regards

Scrapping a Spanish registered car in the UK

Any advice about this situation, that I may have to consider. Me and my Spanish registered car are in the UK on a brief trip to see family etc. It has developed a major problem over here and the engine needs a complete rebuild. The car is not worth the spend (it's been around the clock and back) and...

Seven and a half ton box vans

Morning all. Some years ago I regularly drove seven and a half ton box vans either from hire companies or other operators. I did not have an HGV but historically drove them for years and we were allowed to continue driving them. I know many changes have happened since then. Can you still drive such ...

Inagree with you, the price is relevant.
Also agree re BA, their disruption record is pretty poor.
