Re: Newspapers -Granada

Afternoon all. Came up trumps in Granada. First day there found a single copy of the Telegraph in about the sixth kiosk that we tried, but as it was late afternoon, didn't expect too much. Also tried the magazine/papers section in El Corte Inglés on C' Acera del Darro, but all they had left was one ...

Re: Solar panels and feedback to the grid, or not?

All that sounds very sensible Flexo. I've got a pretty good idea what we may need and when. Also have a reasonable idea when we would have to resort to using Endesa for the heavier out of season times. I'll put all of that together and re-post. I had a quick look at some of the power ratings/outputs...

Re: Solar panels and feedback to the grid, or not?

I have only just started reading up about this.

So if you want to avoid being involved with the grid at all (except for normal domestic connections) and intend to generate less than say 6Kw, what might be a cheap(ish) way to store the excess power generated from your solar set up?

Regards

Re: Newspapers -Granada

Pamela1 At last we have found someone who understands the difference between reading a real book or newspaper compared with an online version. A major point of the whole process is to have the thing physically in front of you. Yes I know we could sit there open-mouthed gawping at a Kindle, iPhone or...

Re: Newspapers -Granada

That's the last place we got one from in Granada.
They only sell them on the other side of security, in the departures bit.

Re: Newspapers -Granada

Yep. Looks like The Times is hanging in there.
Interesting site though and they seem to cover most of the world.

Our problem is that we like to take a real paper with us to a bar and have a beer or two while we attempt one of the crosswords. Well, you can't win them all.

Re: Solar panels and feedback to the grid, or not?

Is there any sort of battery system or similar that could store the excess power you generate?

Domestic Solar Power

Excuse my ignorance, but has the law changed recently regarding generation of solar power?
Am I right in assuming that if you generate less than 10KW and don't wish to feed onto the grid, then there is no tax applicable?

Re: Newspapers -Granada

Chrissie- we both prefer reading a real paper, not online and via post is very expensive. Olive - Didn't expect to get one near Brico and we have to go into the city centre anyway. Costakid - Thanks for the link. It's quite a site. Just tried to read the Times to test it, but you get part way throug...

Newspapers -Granada

Evevning all. Right. I am under serious instructions from her indoors. Next weekend I have to go to Brico Depot in Granada and I am been asked/told I have to return with a Times or a Telegraph newspaper. We have visited Granada on many ocassions and at every shop/kiosk we went to they only sold sodd...

Re: Flight delays from UK due to bad weather

I'm off back to the UK for Christmas booked with Ryanair. So pleased to to have just read that Ryanair will now accept and recognise unions. One of the threatened strikes has already been postponed/cancelled, which seems good news.

Re: Insulating a bedroom

Enrique. Thanks for that. I tried a Google.es search to get to the Topex site, but they have been take over by someone else, anyway I found their site and it was very useful. We don't want to lose our slanted beamed ceiling as it looks good. So thinking along the lines of insulated board between the...

Re: Insulating a bedroom

Enrique/Oliveview01 Sometime ago you posted about roof insulation. We have a similar problem, boiling hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. When you installed the insulation board did it solve the problem/improve things? Also, how did you finish it off. Was it plastered over and painted...

Re: Barcelona safe - yes or no?

Agree with the last few posts. I reckon you are likely to have more problems visiting certain areas in London, Paris, Manchester, Rome, New York, Miami. Wouldn't think twice about going to Barcelona. Also, it's was not Barcelona alone that declared independance, it was the entire area of Catalonia w...

English cuts of meat

Unfortunately our local butcher in Alcalá La Real has sadly passed away. In recent years we have bought legs of lamb or similar from them for Christmas and other special ocassions. Does anyone know of another butcher in this general area (or Granada) that deals in English cuts of meat? Regards Barry

Re: Ryanair landings

Gruff. That's interesting, because we use Ryanair a lot and have done for a few years now. We have never had any bad landings with them at all. Maybe we have been lucky. We have flown with other operators like BA, easyJet, Jet2 and Monarch and never found any difference. I suppose a lot depends on t...

Re: Importing a car; what's the best order of biz?

1bassleft So you are going to buy a car in the UK for £1500 you are then going to drive it cross-channel and down to the coast, so probably somewhere in the region of 2,200kms. Is that really wise? You do not get much of a car for £1500 these days. If you have good mechanical knowledge and carry too...
