Actually, I was reminded of the site by the newsletter that I still receive and I decided to see what is happening.

Spanish law

First of all, let me wish everyone a happy 2009. I would wish you all a prosperous 2009 but that would be taking the mick. Does anyone know if the law on stalking people is the same in Spain as it is in the UK and would I have to declare it when asked in the UK if I have a criminal record? Sad to se...

'Zapatero is an atheist.' Surely a good thing. We have only to look at what religion has done in Spanish History for numerous reasons why. The inquisition, Spanish colonial practice in the New World, and the Catholic Church's grip on politics in Spain, hand in hand with the monarchy to name but thr...

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the war in Iraq, and that is not under discussion here, the decision to withdraw Spanish forces was a cowardly and selfish act which placed extra unnecessary pressure on those with the courage to stay and see it through to the end. You were asked: On the first of my...

Just a minute! You believe that the war in Iraq was justified on the basis of the intelligence reports? Or you believe that, despite Blair and Bush now agreeing that the reports were false, does not mean that the war was illegal? Or that there was another justifiable reason to go to war? I have the ...

Spain and Italy... yes, a perfect comparison but what an indictment! Apart from the fact that I consider the first of Grouser's points to be a con rather than a pro let's also consider: failing (or failed) economy, housing market in tatters, rising unemployment (50.000 last month alone), appeasemen...

How about pulling Spanish troops out of an illegal war in Iraq? Courts set up to deal with violence towards women? Notice I am avoiding anything too controversial. Thanks, Grouser. There was information there and it was relevant but I'd really like to know why some think he is so bad, why do they t...

Why is it obvious? Why do you assume that I think he is OK? And why did you put a smiley at the end of your comment?

Personally I think Zapatero looks and behaves like a nutter and has bought the county to its knees. I'm just interested why you all seem to have a downer on Zapatero. I can see that you disagree with some of his beliefs but how has he badly affected Spain or yourselves? Thanks, I'm just interested.

Re: Smoking laws

I am not sure where citymike goes but I am not sure that the Spaniards would have immediate respect for him because he is English. A phrase often heard in Albox from Spaniards is that they have "la basura del Inglaterra" living in their town. I'm a tall and dashingly handsome man in the p...

Re: Intergrate or Surrender..?

I get a bit 'fed up' of being told I have to integrate, to live in Spain Well, in my experience the expats weren't at all interested in speaking with me and so I was forced to integrate. It was rather amusing, actually, because after being forced to communicate with the Spanish I was then sneered a...

As this saga unfolds with more and more revelations, I worry for the good folk of the UK - if all these doctors cannot make a half-decent terrorist device, how good are they at tricky stuff like diagnosing illness and doing operations?! Well, it must be said, our own Dr Shipman was far more effecti...

Why should the UK join the Eurozone? The UK's economy is drastically different to other economies in the Eurozone and it would have had a negative impact on GDP and general growth in the last few years. The UK is the largets non-protectionist, free market economy in the world and its about time you...

Rubbish. The houses inland are still selling, no reductions there. The coastal stuff, there are too many the same so prices will be more competative. At the end of the day I would not be too concerned with reports like this as at the end of the day people will still want a life in Spain purely because of its climate and atmosphere, and I feel a nice property will always have a safe place in the market if bought right and advertised at a sensible...

Just in case you wondered, the beep refers to mummy's pillows.
