Re: Terracotta tiles for interior/exterior

The "firing at low temperatures" has been known to be done outside, by the sun. A good few of our outside rustic terracottas have cat and dog paw marks embedded in them, ex-factory!

Re: iPad lightening charger cables

Apple cocked up big-time with the 'lightning' connector. If you look up lightning connector problems on the web, you'll find they knew they were under-spec'd and flawed when they launched them, but went ahead anyway. Legal action has been mooted, and Apple have had to replace thousands under warrant...

Re: Chainsaw Purchase

Can thoroughly recommend this Bosch electric chainsaw... Bosch AKE 35-19S. Bought ours from Amazon, but see below Other sizes available. This powerful electric saw is good for occasional/intermittent use. Also quiet and almost vibration-free, and no problem with fuel, spark-plugs or starting. You ma...

Re: Terracotta tiles for interior/exterior

Yes, all decent builder's yards will stock them. Usually about 30cm square, and 2.5cm thick. Cheap as chips.
Beware, though, they absorb dirt like billyo, and are very difficult to keep clean, even when 'sealed', and dreadful to wash or vacuum. Spillages of staining fluid likely to be permanent.

Re: UPS battery

Originally we had a beast of a UPS bought back in 2004 when we first arrived in Spain, I still have it and hope to replace the battery one day. There is no reason why UPS's with relatively small 12v batteries (which limit the amount of time the unit will supply power for) shouldn't have a larger 12...

Re: UPS battery

Just got one from Pino's. Don't know if you are a frequent visitor to their shop but they now have another shop at 14 Puerta del Mar, the group of shops on the other side of the roundabout from the football ground that is near El Ingenio. Cheers Gerry A slightly surprising place for the new ...

Pino Electric, Torre fel Mar, stock them.
Alternatively, and worth a visit, Mailing Electrico, opposite the TdM bus station, near to the big Rodi & Rofer showroom.

Yes it has - and more to come, I guess. It'll probably get worse before it gets better.

But, yes, a really Happy New Year to us all - and to the team who keep the Forum on its feet!

Classic fm still on the old Astra (Sky) satellite.
For us, it's in Non-Freesat mode, where channel numbers vary (for us 5613 on one Humax, 5183 on another).

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

So far as I remember, if you reduce the load to below the contracted level, the smart meter auto-resets. It looks as if a good few smart meters get installed without the installer needing/wanting/being bothered to get access to the house and its consumer unit (fuseboard). When this happens, the prev...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

A smart meter home visit just shouldn't be necessary. The max current draw (potencia) is by software setting, not a physical fuse.

Re: New to Pool Maintenance..

Tester kits with two sets of drops are more reliable for occasional use than cheap pH meters. All pH meters, even very expensive ones, need regular re-calibrating using standard test solutions, and so are not best suited to intermittent use. When you get more used to things, for a good price on mult...

Re: Jaipur

The one in Nerja isn't bad, but not as good as Taj Mahal in Torre del Mar or Puente Don Manuel.

I think this thread could run for a little while yet . . .
