Loja - senderos / walking hiking routes

We've enjoyed several routes in the Loja/Riofrio/Venta del Rayo area and wish to add a hike up to the "Cross" to the list. One problem, my partner isn't great with a combination of a narrow path and a sharp drop! Has anyone walked up to "La Cruz" and could provide a description o...

Re: SO...Is Spain a Safe Place To Move To..?

Gordon, a very interesting topic you raise. I support the view that, of course, it depends where you live. But Spain has special factors that that I believe help, especially in smaller towns and villages, keep crime levels low. In general terms, religion and community appear to ensure that there is ...

Re: The Frustrations of Unicaja

Wow that does sound frustrating. My bank is Caja Rural de Granada and I haven't been subjected to any such additional information requests but am aware (from this and other forums) that some banks are asking for proof of source of income etc. Given the IBI bill issue as well it may, if the situation...

Re: Builder - recommend English speaking

We arranged for a Spanish builder who did an excellent job in reforming an old property in the Loja area, probably too far away from you but we got in touch with him through recommendation and "word of mouth" in the local Spanish bar. I think this is definitely the way to go, employing the...

Re: Outgoing passport control delays, Malaga

I flew back to London last Friday (12th) via C gate/Easyjet and also received a warning message regarding security checks. However the queues were minimal and the passport check was as cursory as normal. Perhaps it was just due to lucky timing? I've learnt to stop by the Easyjet ticket desk before p...

Re: Nota Simple - Property Deeds

A belated thank you for your helpful reply.
I emailed the property registry office in Loja and they have now provided me with the IDUFIR number which now should make it even easier to obtain the nota simple.

Nota Simple - Property Deeds

Hello there, I am seeking to confirm that a property purchased by my Mother back in 2011 in Loja has been registered correctly, in particular it details the Owners and extent of land owned correctly. I have tried to obtain a "Nota Simple" online via the Spanish Land Registry - Regisradores...

New Flights to Granada to/from Gatwick

According to the local paper (to me) Easyjet will be starting flights to/from Granada three times a week from February 2017 http://www.ideal.es/granada/201611/04/g ... 04651.html Weirdly it doesn't look as though the Easyjet website has been updated yet.

Re: online rail ticket procedure

When I have bought on-line tickets, which were downloaded as a pdf document, previously they did not need to be validated but these were for long distance journeys. I think the procedure is different for local or "cercanias" trains. There is detailed information here http://www.seat61.com/...

Re: Spanish mobile

Very interesting to know Three's time limit Gerry but to avoid your wife's hassle of constantly changing her Three sim why doesn't she get her friends/family/contacts all on "What's App" or similar?

All the best,

James

Re: Spanish mobile

I can't add more than my own experiences to Gerry's comprehensive reply. If you are on the "Three" UK network then you will be able to use your 'phone in Spain virtually as at home without any additional charges, eg if you have an allowance of 300 minutes then you will be able to make and ...

Re: Sciatica treatment

An update from my post on 19/8/2016. Underwent a Microdisectomy to resolve pain caused by spondylolisthesis and a compressed nerve at L5 S1. Surgery took place on 9th Sept and I was home the following day. Yesterday I had the staple stitches removed. It's early days but so far, so good. I am not on ...

Re: Chrome updated

Hi, I think the address bar size cannot be adjusted but the font size can, under settings/advanced settings/web content/font size. As a work around I normally work with 2 different browsers, ie have one as a back up if one is "playing up". Both Opera and Firefox are decent browsers and, in...

Re: ZTE Blade L5 Plus

Hi this is a fairly low end basic smartphone, it's not that it's particularly awful but it could be a little frustrating to use because of the low powered processor. I tend to buy refurbished 2 year old devices, eg you can pick up the Samsung S5 for around £130 on ebay, fully refurbished. Best of lu...

Re: Payment Dispute with shop

Technically he may be able to get away with it but my question is, when he went to pay did he believe there had been a mistake, that he had been undercharged (after all, surely an estimate must have been provided upfront?) and said nothing? If that is the case then, morally speaking, I think he shou...

Re: Using state health with no EHIC

Whilst personally aghast at the Brexit decision it is extremely unlikely the EHIC arrangements will change. It is a reciprocal arrangement of course and it will be everyones' interests that the benefits remain intact. For a pointer on how the situation may develop watch Switzerland, not a full membe...

Re: PRINTERS

How heavy a workload will the printer be expected to perform? If it's only occasional copying, printing and scanning I would recommend the HP Desktop 2540 https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-Deskjet-2540-All-In-One-Printer/dp/B00E7Q36RW This relatively inexpensive printer is very simple to set up, is also a...
