Re: Recent Application for Residency in Almeria

Hi Onlinelee, I didn't see your original post but I can tell you that someone I know (not well) is currently going through a similar process. The key to this process seems to be in the word "proof", my acquaintence is 56 and has property in England and in excess of £800.000 in the bank in ...

Re: British mortgage Spanish property

Sounds about right. Don't know why it should be but my Daughter paid around 800 euro many years ago to cancel a mortgage. I was POA and someone from Norwich and peterborough Gibraltar turned up at the notary. Katy, by cancelling a mortgage do you mean paying it off early ? I've done this twice in m...

Re: Recommendation for insuring a motorbike?

Hi there, I've recently moved here and am looking at buying a Vespa and wondered what insurance companies I should check out? Any other suggestions? (I may be bonkers taking to the road here on a bike, but I've been riding for a few years). Also can a 125cc be ridden on the A7? I 've been quoted €8...

Re: Moving a caravan to a park in Andalucia

I can't give you any details of companies that do this but I once knew a couple who moved a static caravan from U K to Benidorm, this would be about seven years ago and it cost around £3000.00 to actually transport it. The caravan site put up all sorts of conditions, it had to be under 6 years old, ...

Re: Bramley apple trees

People, don't be so negative. Where I live in Canarias, the temp min is 9ºC over winter and that's rare. Mostly min is 12 or 13. I grow all sorts of fruit trees including apple. No problem producing fruit. They may not be huge, but they're good enough for us. Also grow apricot, plum, pear and a mul...

Re: Defending your home

The law defining murder is perfectly clear: Murder is defined at common law rather than by statute, as the unlawful killing of a reasonable person in being under the king or Queens peace with malice aforethought express or implied. I don't think a burglar carrying a weapon and entering your home ill...

Re: Does Anyone know what happens to Expats after March 2019?

If you have lived here without registering on the list of foreigners then you are an illegal immigrant under EU rules. You need to register before Brexit or you may have problems after the transition period. Why have you lived here without registering? If you end up with problems after Brexit you w...

Re: Does Anyone know what happens to Expats after March 2019?

I don't really know the rules but I do know of several families who have owned property here since the mid seventies. As I said the Spanish authorities will probably pass some rules to gouge a few more euros from us but they really do need the tourism and the money that comes with it, I doubt they'l...

Re: Does Anyone know what happens to Expats after March 2019?

Nothing drastic will happen, think back to before we were members of the E U and that's how it will be, British residents and tourists generate a huge amount of money within the Spanish economy, swords will rattle but nothing bad will happen !!

Sounds like the E U, As a matter of interest, my American friend tells me it's getting beyond a joke now in the states, he told me of a flight he was travelling on from Las Vegas to Los Angeles (which is only about 25 minutes) that a woman tried to board with a huge pyrenean mountain dog, the cabin ...

Re: Keeping a pet. EU Directive ? ?

That's a good question scotty, in the block of apartments where I rent in Las Palmas (35 apartments) there is a huge sign in the foyer saying "No esta permitido que los residentes de los apartmentos tengan perros en estas instalaciones" loosely translated as "residents are not allowed...

Re: Fitting a round window

Expanded polystyrene is okay for actually making the template if you just want to score round it and cut the hole out manually, my method using a solid template will give a much firmer base to work with and less likely to stray from the area you need to cut, as I said I found this the most reliable ...

Re: Using UK driving licences in Spain

My cousin who moved to Sweden around twenty years ...

Re: Cheapest area to rent east of Malaga

It's a bolt hole basically, we have discussed other possibilities including me purchasing a place and him paying the mortgage, I don't want to do that so this seems to be the simplest arrangement, regarding my previous post we might stretch to €600.00 pm !
