Re: buying

Jimmy, as a general guide I would say that you should pay what you are prepared to pay, prices differ so much that "one mans meat is another mans poison", just go with what you are prepared to pay, having done the necessary research of course !

Re: Still a chance for UK residents

For Manchesteral's benefit : " Who elected Juncker ? " - Elected members of the European Parliament ( MEPs ). Who elected those MEPs ? - The electorates of EU member countries, in the same way as they elect Members of their domestic Parliaments, at the ballot box. So I suppose you could s...

Re: Still a chance for UK residents

"Must include an option to remain in the E U" can this statement be classed as an oxymoron ?? Brexit is here to stay and I can't wait for it, I'm sick and tired of being told by unelected trough dwellers who want to dictate to me and my "genuine" fellow countrymen how many immigr...

Re: car sales

I Knew Bill back in the nineties when I was ensconced in Calahonda for a while, I believe he and his missus (whose name I forget) were known as the "car couple" They had a good reputation, still going then ?

Re: Gibraltar

Agree with alcala Barry, waste of time, regardless of what some people seem to think of the language, they're Spanish who live on an Island adjoined to Spain, other than a few British style bars and plenty of dodgy Asian electronics traders there is nothing remotely attractive about the place, time ...

Carnaval Las Palmas

As a matter of interest, here in Las Palmas we are in the midst of our Carnaval festival which is one of the most important carnivals in the world, very close to the level of Rio (and is actually live streamed there) anyone who wants to experience a genuine carnival atmosphere should come and try it...

That was where I first heard the fabulous "Shotgun wedding" by Roy C, which was, as you know, an anthem for northern soulers !

Re: Good books to read

I don't Know if you could term it as "living in Spain" but for many years I've had a copy of Laurie Lee's "As I walked out one midsummer morning" I read it often and still I don't know the man behind it, although when he travelled through Spain at the age of 20 it must have been ...

Re: Autonomo and pensions

As far as I know Olive you will receive your pension at the due time but you can continue working if you wish, and as I understand it if you are of pensionable age and continue working your tax and social security liabilities are much lower, El Cid or Beachcomber will probably have more extensive kn...

Re: Autonomo and pensions

I have never heard of aN "eu pension" My cousin who is British but lived and worked in Sweden for many years applied for his pension through the Swedish pension service. Eventually he was awarded a British pension (based on sterling) and a Swedish pension (Swedish Kroner) he now receives, ...

Re: driving licence

Sorry wollie, I really don't get the logic of your comment re "I would then get a separate licence for the bike" ? You cannot have two licences therefore you would have to incorporate the bike licence onto your current British licence, meaning you will (probably) need to take the test in U...

Pina Colada

As a matter of interest, today I purchased a litre of Porteador ron blanco, a litre of Don simon pineapple juice and a litre of dino daily coconut mlk for the combined price of €8.29, this will keep me in Pina coladas for the next seven days, proving that Spain and it's outlying areas are indeed sup...

Re: Chainsaw Purchase

Can anyone suggest where I can buy a chainsaw in the Velez or Malaga areas ? Haven't decided whether to go for an electric or petrol one, so any advice on that, would also be gratfully received. Thanks in advance. I have both, I honestly can't say I find a difference between them in terms of practi...
