Re: Thinking of buying in Andalucia...

...and it's not easy to sell quickly in Spain so they are going to have to live with their mistake for some considerable time. Not to mention the quite considerable costs involved in buying and then possibly selling again. Slightly off topic, but some younger relatives (niece & hubby) are buyin...

Re: Rosé wine.

Spain now produces loads of Rose wines and they are all pretty dry. They vary enormously in taste as they use many different grape varieties. As a result the vary from a very light pink to a light red. One well know brand is almost a brown pink. What that means is than one person will recommend the...

Re: Offshore bank accounts

What's new is that if and when the U K becomes uncoupled from the E U then naturally the rules will change and Spain will bill looking for another way to gouge money from U K citizens in Spain, I have no intention of debating this subject as clearly everyone has the right answer, merely passing on a...

People who "understand"dogs should therefore be capable of training them, In my 67 years of life I have owned, Irish wolfhounds, German shephards, Red setters, a border collie and lately C0cker Spaniels, the Wolfhounds and C0ckers being by far the most obedient with the Border collie close...

Re: Offshore bank accounts

If you live in Spain you already have to declare all your worldwide assets over 50k, so I can’t see that Brexit makes the slightest difference. Sid You are correct about the figure of 50k, this is apparently something brewing, I trust this man with most of my money and I certainly trust his judgeme...

Offshore bank accounts

If any of you out there have offshore bank accounts, be cautious, My cousin who is a private investment banker and one of the smartest men I know has warned me that should a Brexit deal go the wrong way anyone living in Spain having offshore bank accounts could be subject to very severe and punitive...

Re: Japanese souffle pancakes

I used to own a Sushi bar, Wasabi (a type of horseradish) from a tube is cr@p, you need to mix it yourself. I have never sold kingfish as Sushi, fresh raw salmon is the norm on a small eggshaped ball of rice, then you dip it in Japanese soy. Sushi is not necessarily just fish, in fact a Japanes chef...

Re: car transport

And to think back in the 70s I owned an RS1600, mark1 with the BDA engine, twin Webers and Boreham custom pack! Got rid if it because it never started every time.... In the early 90's I bought a brand new Cosworth RS 2000, it was stolen three times in three months, The first time they took the seat...

Re: car transport

A nice looking car, RS ??, I think you were indeed lucky to get your hands on this but I have to say that whoever spent £28000.00 on this would be in need of serious therapy, what was it new, around 11000.00 ?

Re: living in a motorhome + insurance

This is an interesting subject, I thought about this years ago when I was in a position buy a Winnibago really cheap. I'm not sure how things are today but when I analysed the practicalities of it I dropped the idea. It's not easy finding somewhere to pitch up, you would have to pay (probably) then ...

In my opinion the full term would be "ex patriate" mean someone who is either temporarily or permanently absent from his country of origin, as some have said it's an old fashioned term and probably fifty years out of date !!

Re: Passporting - what does it all mean re annuities

fyfin, to put your mind at rest, if you are a U K citizen they (whoever they are) cannot legally refuse to pay you what is rightfully yours, worst case scenario is that they MAY refuse to pay it into an E U account unless you pay a premium which is what I suspect they're up to, do you have a U K add...

Re: Buying a property as part of a syndicate

La Carihuela is a place I've been many times, never been disappointed, regarding Pamela's remark about the prices in the fish restaurants some places are pricey especially on the front line (immediately in front of the beach). If you want genuine Spanish, good quality seafood then I recommend Casa J...
