Re: Hotel recommendation in Málaga, please

If you are looking for somewhere typically Andalucian in style, I would recommend La Casa de Las Mercedes (very close to the Teatro Cervantes). We have stayed there are enjoyed it very much. https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/casa-de-las-mercedes.en-gb.html?aid=315676 Thanks - that's the very style I...

Re: Hotel recommendation in Málaga, please

Thanks for your replies, everyone. Price up to £130 I would say. That's pretty much the same in Euros these days?! :wtf:

Hotel recommendation in Málaga, please

We're going to Málaga in a few months, for a long weekend. We want to avoid the bland chains, with their boxy styles which could be plonked anywhere in the world. Is there a traditional, Andalucian-style design hotel with a family feel that anyone could recommend? Quirky forum request no. 7,986 I kn...

Re: Spanish Nationality?

DELE A2 is far from being fluent, though, it's only one level above Beginner. I study Spanish every day and have done for nearly two years, and am at CEFR B1. Every person's achievements will differ, and be much quicker if immersed in Spanish life. BTW, why is it that many European countries requir...

Re: UK Petition to maintain healthcare reciprocal arrangements.

Until the Tories find a PM with cojones there will not be a politician in parliament that would dare tackle the mess that is the NHS. Laudable though their aim is, they stop any reforms to move it towards living within its means. I manage a large GP surgery. Living within it's means?! There is no o...

It's all relative?

Friends say that their recent trip to CDS was marred by flys like they'd never encountered. A few years back when we were in Córdoba (May), I don't recall any issue, but agree that on a few trips to the CDS, there were times when I'm sure they were manic - up noses etc. Odd thing to ask on a forum, ...

Re: Spain political uncertainty

How's the Spanish political scene shaping up? In some senses, it looked like little change, but in other senses like Podemos and Ciududanos, the fall in percentage was a game changer.

Re: Euro Championships Football 2016

I gave up supporting England decades ago. Prima ballerinas with little talent, no matter who the squad or coach is, and fan loyalty has to be earned. They're even talking of putting Hoddle (back) into the position. The FA have the same ossified mindset as Brussels. La Liga has for me, always been fa...

Croatia shook Spanish complacency on the pitch (speaking as a Spanish football fan). Good match. It'll be even more interesting with Italy v Spain on Monday. Looking forward to it!

In x2. Plus sons and most of the extended family. However, neither side has a convincing, trustworthy case IMHO. It's probably the worst example of a rhetoric-driven, dumbed-down debate I have ever witnessed, and a further discredit to the political class and media chatterati on both sides. No respe...

Re: after the Greeks ...

The really sad thing about all this is the human toll, all because of a dogma pursued by the 'elite'. Back in the day, a country would devalue and align their economy with reality. That's not possible now. This absurd model will collapse; it's a question of when. In the meantime, the people continue...

There is also the great myth that many EU nationals go to Britain. not to work but to receive benefits. They aren't entitled to anything for the first three months anyway. Not quite: I manage a large GP surgery and a very recent NHS England directive has reiterated that anyone turning up to registe...

Re: Spain tourism boom 2016?

Re the thread title: it's impossible to predict such things. I've spent the bulk of my career in airlines and hotels and one adverse geopolitical event becomes a game changer. Having said that, it needs to be a headline grabber. Sharm is relatively unsafe (remember 2005?) but people have been flocki...

At least we still have the B of B memorial flight to amaze us............the faces of people from 3 to 93 when they fly over brings a lump every time for me. We were in a restaurant a few years ago, and the Lanc and a Hurricane flew over very low. Three times. Pure magic. 25% of the great British p...

Re: Timelapse of Earth From ISS

We get an email from NASA (not just us, you understand...) that tells us when the ISS is viewable that evening. We go out and look whenever England's cloud cover permits. It's awe-inspiring.
