Re: BANK CHARGES

I have been using openbank since June. Not paid a penny. English website and really easy to open online. Can't see a reason not to use them.

Why bother with trying to enforce legal right to the low charges accounts...just walk away.

Re: taxi rates airport

Airport transfers charge you for waiting and the pick up charge will be too high for such a short journey. Taxi from airport taxi stand is the best bet or take the train to town centre and get a bus from there.

Re: 29312 Villanueva del Rosario, Andalusia public bus

You will firstly have to take a local bus in Malaga to go to the Malaga bus station. Google Maps can tell you the closest one and the time table Then take an Alsa bus to Villanueva del Rosario. Alsa bus has a website in English with a journey planner so you can see the times of the bus and which bus...

Re: Escrow account

Rarely is there an account t set up just to hold funds for one item in escrow. Really it means the funds are held by a 3rd party in their account and released at a later date to the seller Just make sure you know who has control of the account (ideally a lawyer and definitely not the estate agent) a...

Re: Gib/offshore accounts

Some companies are difficult about using non-Spanish bank accounts. My recommendation would be to open the N26 account and suck it and see. The n26 account is totally free so nothing to lose. If you have GBP income when you move here permanently then Revolut would be a better option for you as you c...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

That must be 5 to 6 months ago.I recall the post just not who posted it. I am not sure if that is because I am rubbish with names or maybe you need to do something to make yourself more memorable...Boris Johnson hair...Donald Trump wig? If I recall correctly your only legal way out was and still is ...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

Yes you assumed that everybody knew your circumstances and would advise you accordingly and it was indeed dangerous as you could have blindly followed my advice. Now I know your circumstances I can advise you it would be impossible for you to claim that you live there as the accommodation is not ava...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

Well why didn't you say that from the beginning. The OP outlined a set of circumstances and you never said that your's were any different. The OP had a home there you never said you didn't which is why I was giving advice based upon having a place to live in the UK. If you have no place to live and ...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

Yes I understand completely...see my comment about confused.com Do you have an address in the UK? Do you I tend to return there? Then you live there. Do you really think someone in a call centre knows the law? I have on several occasions had call centre staff try to tell me the law and they are wron...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

I think you are completely missing my point. For example in Spain people who are not residents and do not own property can buy and insure a car. All they need is an NIE. Sometimes mistakingly they also are requested a padron...but we all know legally it is not needed. The insurer will ask where the ...

Re: Gib/offshore accounts

Why not? The poor interest rates. The over zealous money laundering and funds freezing carried out by the banks. The arbitrary practice of the hacienda to freeze accounts while they spend a few years to figure out the reason the froze the account was wrong. Given there is a totally open market in E...

Re: Gib/offshore accounts

Without going into personal reasons why, I can recommend Queensgate bank and trust, Georgetown, Grand Cayman. If you do decide to use Cayman Islands banking I suggest, if you are non resident there, a category A or B bank. Given there is no deposit insurance scheme it would not be high on my list o...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

You can live in the UK and you don't need to exchange EU licence until it expires so no problem to keep Spanish licence until it expires https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/driving-licence/driving-licence-renewal-exchange/index_en.htm If OP doesn't live in the UK (vague term in UK as ther...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

No problem at all to drive, own, tax and insure a car in the UK with a valid licence from another EU country (usual Brexit caveat applies). Have a play on confused.com and see the questions you are asked. You need to say where the car is kept etc. and there are fields where you say which country you...

Re: Strange request re. Vehicle Reg in the UK

In the UK there is no residential register. So there is no way to prove residency in the UK. So that means you don't actually have to live in the UK to buy a car there. Road tax and insurance only requires an address in the UK you don't actually need to live there., no like Spain where there is an o...
