Re: New RCD fitted keeps tripping

Worth checking the voltages between the earth and the live and neutral lines at the consumer unit. I had a similar problem with RCD tripping and on investigation found that, while the voltage between live and neutral was 240V approx, the voltage between live and earth was about 400V and between neut...

Solar Power

I have been thinking about having solar power system fitted to the house. Ideally I would like to be off-grid, so would obviously need batteries in the set-up and probably a back-up generator. I wondered if anyone had had this done recently and if they have any gems of knowlege they can pass on. :D

Re: Credit card fees for car hire

I'll have some time to kill on my next trip to XRY so will ask for Firefly's complaints book - providing I'm not having the dash for the train into town or my inbound flight is not cancelled by strike action! I'll prepare the complaint in Spanish and English and show it to the staff before requesti...

Re: Credit card fees for car hire

The car hire organisation was Firefly Car Rental at XRY. I would imagine the CC fee is part of their general T&Cs and not specific to this location. Another gripe I have with car hire organisations in general is that even if you request to be billed in euros they still convert to GBP applying D...

Hi elisive, thanks for that, can you tell me where the national police station is located ? I'm not Familiar at all with Torre del mar ! It's on Ave Andaluci...

I think it's great they don't sell single use plastic bags....I am sure they still sell the bags for life and paper bags...probably just out of stock when you were there.

Re: Postal Express envelopes

In fact, it is neither. It's for an Irish Passport and as I said, it specifies that I need to enclose the pre-paid Postal Express plastic envelope.

Postal Express envelopes

I am applying for a passport and I have been told I have to include an a self-addressed prepaid Postal Express plastic envelope with the application. Apparently, you get it from the Correos.
Just wondered if anyone knew about them and if they are called something different in Spanish ? :problem:

Re: Confusion about NIE/Residency

Thanks for all the information. I work on a ship, so I am never in Spain longer than 3 months at a time, or 6 months of the year, so It seems the residencia doesn't apply to me. Let see if it changes after brexit! I think you are getting confused about the difference between tax residency and Resid...

Re: Parking Fine in Torre del Mar

It was probably so high, because it was in the zone that is only for loading and un-loading at certain times, that or Velez Malaga council trying to balance their books .... :wtf:. Anyway went to Patronato de Recaudación office in Velez, presented my Parking ticket and got a form to take to the bank...

Re: Parking Fine in Torre del Mar

Meal was good, but not that good . I must admit I thought it was a lot too. We got out of the restaurant about 17.25, the parking restriction started at 17.00 and we were booked at 17.20 according to the ticket. Never had a ticket in Spain before, so I am guessing 200 euros is a bit over the ...

Re: Parking Fine in Torre del Mar

It was a police one, the office is I believe in Velez Malaga, (where you pay car tax), so will pop along tomorrow. Think you get 50% discount if you pay within 20 days....so only have to pay 100euro ... :?

Parking Fine in Torre del Mar

I was silly enough to get a ticket yesterday afternoon in Torre del Mar on the Paseo Maritimo .... :( I found the ticket on my car after I got back to it from a lovely meal, if expensive, as turned out. Not clear from the traffic ticket where I should pay it. There is an IBAN reference, so guess you...

Someone suggested to me that it might be an Adder, (Common Viper). The pattern on the snake looks in between that shown for the Horseshoe whip and the Adder...so not sure.

Snake on Terrace

This little fella was spotted on our bougainvillea by one of the dogs.
It was about 80cm long by 2cm diameter I would say.
Any idea what type of snake it is ?
Sorry for the quality of the photo, I didn't like to get too close.....just in case :problem:

Think that is too large for cabin, but should be able to go in hold, if you don't mind that ?
According to their website, it's 75 pounds per dog to Spain, which sounds similar to what we paid.

Re: Flying a dog from U.K. to Malaga

When we moved to Spain 2 years ago, we flew by Iberia from Gatwick to Malaga via Madrid with our Yorkie. If it's a small dog, you are allowed to have the dog in a dog container on your knee. The website specified what size the dog container should be. As I remember, it was not very expensive. https:...
