Re: Solar PV - Feed In Tariff or Net Metering ?

We had our solar panels installed in November and the firm that installed them contacted us a couple of weeks ago asking for our official address, our CUPS number from the electric bill and Cadastral reference, (on IBI), which they were supplying to Endessa so that we could be registered. He said th...

We also used Jose Manuel when we bought our house here. Very good lawyer and also unusually for a lawyer, a very nice guy.

Re: Plants in pots

Lime trees are more tender than other citrus trees, so be careful when planting. Best, to plant it somewhere sheltered, that hopefully is not a frost pocket. Keep it well watered and looked after for 1st few years, until it is well established.

Re: Changing to Spanish driving licence

From being giving the temporary piece of paper to receiving the actual licence took 4 weeks for my wife. For other people we know, it took a similar amount of time. No gesters used.

The retention money is to protect the new owners from any additional costs resulting from the DAFO.

The Spanish butchers in Puente Don Manuel sells fresh turkeys, again not sure if they are free range. They are very nice, if a bit on the large size.

Re: Plants in pots

Well I would buy the lemon seperatedly from the pot and then pot it yourself. The actual Lemon tree, should be less than 10 euros. Should also be taller than a metre. Price of pot will obviously depend on what you choose.

Re: Changing to Spanish driving licence

My wife and I applied for our Spanish licences back in January and got appointments in August. When we went to Trafico with our paperwork, I was immediately given the temporary piece of paper to carry with me till my proper licence came throught. The actual licence arrived in mid September in the po...

Re: Plants in pots

A citrus tree would really give you the Spanish feel.....apart from the lovely fruits, you get beautifully smelling blossom. The Viveros that has been mentioned near Torrox sells quite a wide variety, many suitable for large pots. Kumquats, mandarins or even some oranges or lemons would be suitable ...

Re: when to plant ...

I always plant most of my veg at this time of the year....with possible exceptions of Tomatoes and Peppers, though I am going to try planting them at this time of the year too. I find that planting veg in the Spring is not a good idea, as then they have to face the very hot weather in the Summer. Yo...

Re: New RCD fitted keeps tripping

Worth checking the voltages between the earth and the live and neutral lines at the consumer unit. I had a similar problem with RCD tripping and on investigation found that, while the voltage between live and neutral was 240V approx, the voltage between live and earth was about 400V and between neut...

Solar Power

I have been thinking about having solar power system fitted to the house. Ideally I would like to be off-grid, so would obviously need batteries in the set-up and probably a back-up generator. I wondered if anyone had had this done recently and if they have any gems of knowlege they can pass on. :D

Re: Credit card fees for car hire

I'll have some time to kill on my next trip to XRY so will ask for Firefly's complaints book - providing I'm not having the dash for the train into town or my inbound flight is not cancelled by strike action! I'll prepare the complaint in Spanish and English and show it to the staff before requesti...

Re: Credit card fees for car hire

The car hire organisation was Firefly Car Rental at XRY. I would imagine the CC fee is part of their general T&Cs and not specific to this location. Another gripe I have with car hire organisations in general is that even if you request to be billed in euros they still convert to GBP applying D...

Re: Postal Express envelopes

In fact, it is neither. It's for an Irish Passport and as I said, it specifies that I need to enclose the pre-paid Postal Express plastic envelope.
