Re: Wanted: SIMYO referral from existing SIMYO customer

Whilst I can't disagree with the sentiment of your post ( :P ) it is in fact a genuine offer and it is SIMYO that gives you the €5, not me !! https://www.simyo.es/recomendados.html

NO LONGER REQUIRED: SIMYO referral

I now have the referral that I was looking for, but will leave the post in case the info in it is of any use to anyone else. ____ I want to get a SIMYO sim card and at the moment they have a helpful referral offer. If someone with an active SIMYO number that meets the conditions below refers me, we ...

Spanish white goods brands - Which are best and which to avoid ?

I am re-equipping a kitchen and most of the brands of white goods on offer are unfamiliar, esp at the lower / middle end of the market. Are there any which are considered better than others, and any to be avoided ? At the moment, I am specifically looking for a fridge / freezer, but will soon also b...

Re: Upholstery in Fuengirola - Marbella area

I know this is an old post, but we are in Marbella and need a couple of footstools re-covering. We are looking for a recommendation for a well-priced reliable person to carry out what is a very simple job. Happy to drive up / down the coast in the range Estepona / Malaga to get the job done at a goo...

Taxation as a new non-resident property owner

I bought a property in Spain last summer, in the joint names of myself, my wife and our adult daughter. We each, therefore own one third of the property. None of us intend to become resident in Spain for tax purposes. I understand that the starting point for the tax position is that all 3 of us have...

Fibre and IPTV in Marbella- Avatel Wikier (or other) experiences ?

We need finally to get around to connecting our apartment in Marbella (Golden Mile) up to the outside world. The best looking fibre-optic / IPTV deal is Avatel Wikier which is asking €30 (IVA inc) for an unlimited 100Mb service, with IPTV including the main UK Freeview Channels. There is no installa...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

Can I just ask what happens if the system trips with a smart meter and there is no physical trip switch to reset ? I am guessing there must be a reset button on the meter (?), but I don't have easy access to the meter as it is in a locked communal area. I read somewhere that throwing the main on/off...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

One thing I am wondering is whether, as the potencia can be changed online, I can simply change this down and up during periods of potential almost zero use, medium use when we are over for a visit, and potential max use in high summer if we ever decide to let out the apartment. As it seems to be b...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

Thanks again for all the replies. Endesa seem quite helpful and responsive in English, so I will probably stick with them unless there is a meaningful saving to be made elsewhere, although the fixed monthly payment sounds interesting so I will explore that. One thing I am wondering is whether, as th...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

I have not actually ever seen my meter, as it is in a locked cupboard in a communal area of the block !! I am guessing that I may do, as the Endesa website shows my consumption on a daily basis split between peak and off-peak, so I am guessing that there must be a smart meter of some sort (which I a...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

Thanks for the info. I do have the option also to adjust the phase (from triple to single) online, as well as the potencio. I will probably need to speak to Endesa, but it is helpful to have the answers before asking the questions !!

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

I have just dug a little deeper on the Endesa website and I see this :- Now you have contracted Hired potency 9.873 kW Time Discrimination: With DH Tension: Triphasic Your max power: 16.435 kW So, it seems that although I am contracted at 9.873kW, my max power is 16.435kW. I am not sure how / why th...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

Again, thanks to all. As I am now getting a better understanding of what I am looking for here (and that this is the total usage of all the equipment which might be on at any one time), I should clarify that this would never exceed :- the fridge/freezer approx 200W of lighting (we have switched to L...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

Thanks for the helpful responses to date ! One thing I did not ask, is whether I should be shopping around and looking at suppliers other than Endesa. I don't want to go through that hassle only to save €100 a year (although every bit counts), so am interested only if it would make a real difference...

Choosing / changing electricity contract

We bought a 2 bed holiday apartment in Marbella over the summer, and it is probably being used one week in six, with only 2 people staying in it. Electricity consumption is minimal: it is a cool apartment and does not require aircon, the water heating and hob are gas powered, and the only serious el...

Re: GP medical treatment in Marbella (inc general questions about Helicopteros Sanitarios)

Perhaps my post was not clear, and I should have spelled out the context a little more. In London we have a private GP. If there is a problem we either go and see him or he comes and sees us. I am therefore used to paying for medical care, and am prepared to pay to get treatment at a time and place ...

Re: GP medical treatment in Marbella (inc general questions about Helicopteros Sanitarios)

No, no current EHIC card :!: (yes, I really do need to get one) and I had no wish to spend 4 hours (or however long) waiting around in a queue. We are used to paying for private medical treatment in London and with only a £50 excess on the insurance (which will anyway also cover the medication my wi...
