Re: What to do with the fruit!?

Yes, thanks. I think they're just too young to identify as they're all green. I guess time will tell. Thanks again..

Re: What to do with the fruit!?

Many tanks El Cid. I've planted 4 other citrus - lemon, lime, mandarin, and orange, of a similar age. Only the Orange and Lemon (or lime) (I can't tell the difference between the lemon and lime though), have fruit. Much less than the one pictured but I will take note of your advice for the future. T...

What to do with the fruit!?

I have this little orange tree that my neighbours poison overspray nearly killed. Fortunately, it was only the foliage. I put it in a pot and hoped for the best. I came back to Spain two days ago after 3 months away to find it loaded with little oranges. So much so, the little trunk could bearly tak...

Re: Tahini

Thanks everyone. I will try Mercadona in Torre today. The one in Torrox didn't have any and the assistant looked at me as if I was mad whan I asked. Probably my bad Spanish though. I do grow my own chillies and I have a good supplier in a little Asian supermarket in Berlin which I bring with me but ...

Tahini

Does anybody know where you can get Tahini (sesame paste) to make hummus? Or any Indian and Middle eastern ingredients? Also very hot chillies? I'm in Cómpeta area.. Many thanks..

Re: Good quality dog food

I'm not expecting to get the same. I don't think it's available in Spain. I feed them Markus Müller NaturNah. A lot of regular food my older dog won't touch. I was hoping to find something similar.

Re: Good quality dog food

Thanks for all the replies. I'm actually looking for a good, high quality dried food. Possibly organic. That might be asking too much form a 'pile 'em high' commercial chain in Spain but I'll check them out.

Thanks again..

Good quality dog food

Can anyone recommend a good quality dried dog food. I normally buy mine in Germany but in Spain (Axarquia), I have no idea.
I'm looking for a good quality food. I don't want to buy the rubbish that's generally available in the supermarkets.

Thanks

Safe Weed Killer

Does anyone know of a safe and effective weed killer for a very large area? I have seen some organic remedies but they would only be good for a small garden path. I have 2 dogs so it must be safe. I've seen very clean, weed-free banks with vines and young avocado trees on them which are obviously un...

Thanks Gerry for your help on both my topics! So some reassurance that there is partial protection for us should the worst happen! Very disturbed to hear some of the stories!!

Registering residence locally

We don't live in Spain full time but do we still need to register for the 'El Padrón' at the local Town Hall. We obviously have our NIE numbers etc. but should we (or do we have to), register ourselves living (albeit occasional), at our registered home address in the Ayuntamiento? Thanks!

Re: Processionary Caterpillars 2018

That's really bad news but so glad your dog survived. We removed many, many nests form our trees over christmas/New Year when they were less threatening. We think we got rid of them all and are considering treating the trees with Ynject this year..

Re: Calling olive experts..

Thanks Gasman (and everyone) for all this info. I think I'll get to work on the olives asap to give them a good chance this year. So the pink bloomed almonds can be sweet or bitter and neither are likely to poison me either way.. that's good to hear. I only have 4 olive trees and about 5 almonds but...

Re: Calling olive experts..

Thanks for all this info, I'm learning quite a lot about this subject! I only have 4 old trees but it would be nice to get them productive. I was just a bit worried that if the olives are for oil 'only', they might be harmful or at least unpleasant to eat and of course waste all the time and cost pi...
