Re: Speed camera map

well, after reminders in double figures, and drawing him a picture (well, sending a screenshot from the French payment site), son sent me the numbers. Only took five days. Paid, receipt downloaded. Thanks, olive

Re: NIE Application or Renewal - process in July 2019

Just to muddy the waters, I didn't produce a padron because I don't have one, being non-res. I did need proof of owning (I guess a rental agreement would otherwise have worked) my home; utility bills were of no interest. Quite possible that my 2001 NIE paper would have worked, but I thought it worth...

Re: NIE Application or Renewal - process in July 2019

The number itself stays with you, but the piece of paper can be considered only useful for a few months if making some big-ticket purchase. I got a NIE in circa 2001 to take over this place from my father and it then sat unused for years. When I purchased, which now made more sense than hiring, a ca...

Re: Internet/ISP recommendations for Benalmadena/costa del sol area?

CsC were based in Ciudad Real and I was reliant on email responses. Excom told me to switch my router off+on (well, dur), then ignored me. Excom like to charge more than CsC and prob want rid of me. In any case, I really don't want to faff with 10Mb/s "wireless" (CsC sends a wireless signa...

Does indeed, thanks Olive. I have C+Pd your text (including the good idea) to my son. Hopefully, he'll send me the digits as a photo seems too much effort.

Re: Pavement / table tax for cafes

Don't know the ins and outs (and would certainly check quebin's link), but it is a thing. I bought a copy of David Searle's "You and the Law in Spain" back in the early 90s (it's regularly updated) and the tax was mentioned back then. Like other taxes, the defence "but I never put tab...

Re: Internet/ISP recommendations for Benalmadena/costa del sol area?

I have had Ciudad sin Cables for over a year (who sold onto ExCom) and both have ignored me since April as my mobile data allowance is bled dry tethering while the disconnections make the internet unusable. Avatel had good-looking packages but my location was no good (checked twice, and they got bac...

Re: Jump leads/ booster cable.

That's interesting info, Costakid. It was a Jet2 op at Malaga's baggage desk who told me to get mine out, but said the hairdryer and tongs should stay in the case. Made no sense to me, and maybe it's made up on the spot, but best to check and follow their advice (fwiw). I found the actual .gov advic...

Re: Logistics of selling a LHD car with Spanish plates - advice please

Yes, it's not retrospective. The owner on 01/01/19 pays the tax for 2019, not 2018 (I must've been the only buyer in December) so any sales contract needs keeping hold of. I can see why Pentagon trailer a load back. LHD cars for sale in the UK are a real premium "with all paperwork taken care o...

Re: Speed camera map

Does that app cover France too? I managed to get clocked doing 92 in an 80 earlier this month. Only took two weeks to get the fine too. Very efficient. Snap. Drove down in my UK-plated and my son (who's flown back) tells me I have one. Annoyingly, he hasn't forwarded the details (you reminded me to...

Re: Granada City Traffic Fine

To redress the balance, I parked in an official Preston parking spot, bought the ticket, left on time, turned right (left is bollards) and went home. Got a photo of me at the top of the street I turned right onto and a fine. I emailed them, "After parking in your metered space, where else could...

Re: Bilbao ferry/overnight stay. Any tips please?

About 10 years ago now, but Bilbao was one of my stops when I Euro-trekked in the Focus. We stayed at the Ibis (Mrs Oz has an Ibis fixation), which was central and very decent. It was a Basque festival week and street pintxos restaurants were literally around the corner. I only remember Ibis Barcelo...

Re: Jump leads/ booster cable.

I tried to stick what electricals I could in wife's case and was told at check-in to get them out as they wanted them in hand luggage (annoyingly for me). Cables would probably be fine in hold, though. Irrelevant, but mildly amusing. I was bringing a body control module out from M/C for an XK8 owner...

Re: Van or towbar and trailer?

Have to agree that used trailers and towbars go for pretty high money so very little depreciation. OTOH, I have a LHD Combo Tour (UK reg) and have developed huge respect for the Isuzu 1.7
I would rather have a gazillion km one of those than Renault's 1.5 or a PSA 1.6 diesel.

MilAnuncios has an autocaravanas subsection in its motors search. https://www.milanuncios.com/autocaravanas-de-segunda-mano-en-malaga/?fromSearch=1&demanda=n I took my time with this website before I felt happy to approach one or two sellers. Due diligence, as required with any selling site. Sti...

Probably, that business address had a multi-user license for Windows and/or other software. As it will be boring and irrelevant at best, I'd also bin it.

Re: Replating Spanish car in the Uk

No, but I've read about it on the .gov websites. Appears to be pretty straightforward and inexpensive; certainly compared to the reverse process. In order to replate and pass a UK MOT, you'll need RHD headlamps fitted, a Certificate of Conformity and (LHD) a Certificate of Mutual Recognition. Often ...

Re: Smelly aircon

As Costakid says. Moisture builds up, so do the bacteria and the whiff will be blasted out at you; 24/7. It's a common "to do" with aircon, including cars. I had it with my wheely-mobile AC. Removed the gauzes etc and gave them a good clean, not with bleach-based but EDTA-containing anti-b...

I don't think yellow is reserved for older motos. I saw a >50cc scooter which had the old-style V for Valencia plate. It seems that >50cc motos have the same licences as cars - either the old MA... etc or the current ####XXX style. <50cc (and this includes those Aixom microcars with 49cc engines) ha...
