What I don’t understand is that they remain able to recharge the iPhone (5)

iPad lightening charger cables

I seem to be getting through charger cables like a dose of salts. Some last me two weeks, some longer but they soon expire. Confusingly they still charge my iPhone. I buy them from Tesco, Apple, B&M - all with the same result. Nothing to do with dirt in the charging dock as it charges when I buy...

Re: Choosing / changing electricity contract

This is good news. I only require 8KW December to March when i have several electric fires, kettle, hairdryer and water heater on. The rest of the year I can manage on 4Kw, as long as I can juggle hairdryer and kettle

Could save me some money?

Re: Spain isnt cheap

petrol? 1,000 litres at a saving of 30p per litre - another £300pa cheaper living in spain.

I do agree about heat and comfort. Much more cosy in the UK with GCH, insulation and carpets.

Re: Drought tolerant ground cover

As the OP , thanks for that. But where do you buy them. I've been googling belly button plant and Aptenia on and off all afternoon and cannot find a uk source. When in Spain I do visit the garden centres but usually fail to find these succulent type vigorous ground cover plants. Frustrating!

Hang on, this parcel is on a road that has houses all the way down. So it's probably "urban" not "rural".

Re: Parcel of land

The only way you will get permission in Andalucia is if you have a productive piece of land and are registered as a farmer. That rules out 99% of most aspiring expats. We got permission in 2002 to build on 8000 m2 at a rate of 0.15% of the area, in other words about 115m2. The minimum plot since 20...

Re: Parcel of land

Well I've just asked and the asking price is €120,000, but open to "offers". Any ideas as to how to find out what a realistic price would be, for example this looks like a similar dwelling permit, on land half the size. https://www.thinkspain.com/properties-in-spain/3/22/32/3058/4#p:/spani...

Parcel of land

Hi A parcel of land has just got ne on sale next to our property Frigiliana torrox road. About 11,000 sqm with a permit to build a 40sqm "apero" - it has electric and water supply. I also assume you could plant several hundred fruit trees. I've not enquired about price yet, but does anyone...

Re: OTC drug availability

Yes I've had an exemption for years in the uk. However I'm sometimes here for three months and the convenience of popping down to the chemist is worth it. I wonder if the Spanish farmacia would dispense my sleeping pills? I do know they won't dispense anti biotics because I once heard someone making...

OTC drug availability

I forgot my supply of thyroxine for my thyroid condition, and was very surprised when I asked at the chemist that they supply it otc. I didn't even have to show the empty box with my details on it. Not only that but the cost was under 5€ for 100 tablets as opposed to my monthly uk prescription of 28...

Small flies

Whenever we leave our property empty for a month or more we get loads of very small flies. Judging from their presence they appear to come up the drain of the shower in one bathroom only.

Any prevention ideas - other than fly killer on our return.

Re: Drains Smelling

Absolutely. Never use bleach if you have a septic tank. Mercadona sell a tube freshener. The problem is that in good old Spain u tubes try out and quite often there is no u tube so you get smells. Flush clean water down and a cleaner. BUT NO BLEACH for septic tanks. If you do have a septic tank and ...

Can't wait for Gus to enlighten us on the latter in the new year. And I posted the royal website and think my post was pulled. Don't understand as no personal ...

Re: Malaga car hire.

Does anyone know where I can get a long term rental at the same rates as a weekly rental. I am looking to rent for two months. While I can get rates as low as 3€ to 10€ a day for a weekly rental the lowest I can get for 2 months is 900€ to 1,000€, or over 15€ a day, which makes it cheaper to get the...

There's an even bigger viveros on the road to velez Malaga. Not been but it looks much bigger than the torrox place. Oh btw, oleanders are poisonous, yes?
