Re: Spain protests against Princess Anne

I will have to rethink my opinion of Princess Anne. She has always been one of the hardest working Royals and supports many good causes. However, she must have given some up if she has to spend 3 days in Gibraltar. 3 Hours shopping in Morrisons, M&S, a carton of cheap fags and terrible coffee. S...

There would seem to be a small problem with one of the chair lifts, check carefully before you go to ensure everything is working correctly.

Re: Civil War?

Unless it starts very soon, it will have to avoid Benalmadena Pueblo. Some local twerp has decided to dig the main road ( virtually the only one through the village ) up for 3 months. Traffic will be jammed for miles, including armoured cars, tanks, and normal motor vehicles. The only things that wi...

Re: Why can't the Spanish invent?

Did not the Spanish invent the garotte ? It's popularity seems to have waned of late, but perhaps it is because the Spanish prefer to use cars to kill people. It is much less effort, just put your foot down and point. :?

Re: New cabaret club

As some of you must be aware Daltons Club is no more, but he is still appearing on the Costa circuit. If you are looking for a good old rock and roll night look out for him.

Re: New cabaret club

Admin. Can you penalise Rick in some way for the quality, or lack,of it, of his humour. Some of it is fine, but others are designed to produce groans all along the costa. A verbal leg smacking would be just the thing.

Re: Dear Diary, Big Brother's watching you!

The "Thought Police" will have a very frustrating time with me. It does not happen very often, is usually a complete mess, and I've forgotten it after a few seconds. Bit like my sex life then.

Re: Rude shop staff part II

Thank you Frog for your usual optimistic and uplifting comments. Apart from our local Maskom supermarket, where the staff practice the ancient art of gurneying, I usually get smiles from all the supermarket staff. It may just be that some of them are smiles of sympathy for my Spanish pronunciation, ...

I once paid 7/6p in the YK for a licence for my pet, I still have it and it still kips a lot and is quite expensive to maintain. I only keep her because I can't cook.

Re: Moving to Malaga

I have British friends whose 3 children attend schools in the Arroyo, just uphill from Paloma Park. They have integrated so well that the older two are having to be taught to read English books at home, and the parents are trying hard to keep up with the local Spanish slang & rude words. The Arr...

Tried the meal of the day yesterday lunchtime, small plates of deep fried small squid and whitebait, followed by a tureen of estafado ( for 2 ), and then Rosada with boiled potatoes, bread, coffee inc.
I ate so much I could not eat in the evening. :)

Bemalmadena Pueblo Restaurant

The Avenida Bar & Restaurant in the pueblo has closed which is bad news for those of us who bought a paper from Diego's , and read it while downing a cafe cortado and tostada. All is not lost however, it has just moved to Avenida Chorillo, and is now called the Restaurant Rueda, same staff, same...

Irish Wolfhound

I have to break the sad news that Archie, the Irish Wolfhound, who posed outside the Failte Irish Bar in Benalmadena Pueblo has decided to decamp back to Ireland. His owner said that it was because he needed the open fields around his original home to stretch his legs, and what legs, about 4 feet lo...

Re: house insurance.

Friends of mine arranged a mortgage 2 years ago, and one condition of the mortgage agreement was that they had to place the building insurance with that bank. It is possible to change but the penalty was severe and they also could withdraw the mortgage. The phrase with "short and curlies" ...
