Correos mail hold

We may have to be away from home for a while. Is there a facility for Correos to hold your mail rather than cramming it endlessly into the rather small Apartados ? Buzon with our name in the centre of the village? I dont want a mail redirect. If there isn't , a Spanish friend has offered to empty th...

Re: Instant electric water heaters

3.7 kw? Min on a radial circuit ?

The one I was looking at was a measly 2.8 kw zip es £211 from aquahot in uk. Adequate for hand washing or getting some water for mopping. I didn't want a dedicated cct.

Re: Instant electric water heaters

That is encouraging. Sourced here in Spain? have you got a name or model number please for your sink ones please?

Does the sink get earthed at all or not necessary as the device is earthed via the circuit?

Instant electric water heaters

I have a remote sink and would like hot water to accompany the existing cold supply. The traditional solutions are butane instant water heater or a small water cylinder. The former is a lot of hassle and expense for occasional use. The latter is neater but I guess not very economical unless on a tim...

being serious for a minute, I have said for years that this is a flawed area of the EU. Mostly it is designed around you being in one country.

Re: Depopulation in Rural Spain

"A bi hourly bus service during certain hours to the nearest town " Our nearest large village is on a main road between two towns of around 20,000 each. The large village has a population of 680. Daily bus service is just one bus in the morning and one back at 7 p.m. Not really of great us...

Depopulation in Rural Spain

Has anyone been following this non political protest. Been on TV and in the papers. For example El Pais (in English). https://elpais.com/elpais/2019/04/01/inenglish/1554107629_170580.html It is a subject close to my heart as an advocate of rural living. Our small village used to have youngsters. The...

Linea Directa do cover no rejas. you have to close and bolt the internal shutters on all windows as part of the small print. Neither Rejas and no rejas just bolted shutters would stop a determined thief but do deter casual ones.

Re: New Electricity Connection.

A neighbour has a basic electrical connection to his house like yours. Fit for a television and a few lights and has never been upgraded. The price for the upgrade came in at 4000 euros. A suspiciously round figure. However that is to upgrade the single phase bell wire over four pylon spans to the n...

Re: Leroy Merlin - Little Faith

Just had a thought. Do LM offer “chat” on their website? You could ask there. I suspect one person is dealing with a number of chats at a time which gives you the chance to use google translate if you dont fully understand a response. I suspect you are right with the customer service difference betw...

Re: Leroy Merlin - Little Faith

I wish you luck with that quest. The curse of the "curfew". By the time you have done the morning chores and driven anywhere they are closed. I found that problem with the Granada store but asking at the desk near the entrance they got someone from that department to man the returns desk. ...

You will of course now be perfectly equipped to give advice to expats like they are painting the outside of the house at the wrong time of the year.

Don't forget to switch the tv on the minute you get up for the day.

Re: parking fines in UK

Is the £55 a standard fee for dealing with motoring offences including parking offences? If so it would seem reasonable. Never heard about the refill your car within five miles and an hour before. What happens if you fill up and then have a meal before handing the car back? I use Leeds Bradford and ...

Re: Passport control post Brexit

Expats are allowed to vote. Not sure what your point has got to do with this thread. At the moment all anyone can offer is opinion because nobody knows. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing at all changed due to chipped passports. Maybe at UK airports UK passport holders will have our own smaller lan...

Re: Passport control post Brexit

Was it Mark Twain that said

If voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.

Maybe it is for the best that pesky expats might not be able to vote.
