Yes - we flew recently from Liverpool to Alicante. We were 2 kilos over leaving Liverpool and the check-in staff didn't bat an eye. On returning the Swissair check-in staff at Alicante said we were 3 kilos over and I got charged 45 euros. I don't think the 15 kilo allowance is very generous but I ch...

I don't see what is so wrong with trying to ensure that you get a row of seats together - especially when like us you have a 2 year-old to manage throughout the flight - we do our best to stop him annoying others!

I flew Ryanair 2 weeks ago from Liverpool to Alicante. I paid extra for the priority boarding and I reckon only about 20% of the passengers had priority boarding. First time with Ryanair for me and no problems whatsoever - I would use them again.

I was in Alicante airport last week and noticed what seemed to be a smoking area in the departure lounge. It wasn't advertised as such but there was an absence of no smoking signs and plenty of people were smoking in there.

I don't know about Spain but in the UK it is definitely an offence to record a telephone conversation without informing the caller that their call may be recorded.

One thing I have noticed is that most cave houses for sale are in the Granada Altiplano region around Baza, Guadix and places like that.

You need to check out this area before getting too excited about cave houses as I personally would not want to live there or even go there for my hols!

I got a parking ticket for parking on the pavement a couple of years ago.

It was 60 Euros but I paid at the town hall the following day and got a discount so it only cost 37 Euros.

I think the term "Whinging Poms" refers to Brits who move to Australia but then slag off their new homeland saying how everything was better in the UK. Naturally this cheeses off the Aussies who think if life was so rosy in the UK why don't the whingers go home.

I stayed in Mojacar Playa about 3 years ago. Can't remember the hotel name but is was right on the beachfront and had an indoor pool that the owner was very proud of. The rear terrace and the rear balconies were overlooking the beach. Hotel was also good to walk to all the restaurants and bars.

My Yahoo email account has gone from virtually no spam to maybe 15 per day over the last few weeks. No idea why really.

No doubt my comments will enlist a vitrolic response from the many/few?rose coloured glasses wearers domiciled in Spain.

Quite a few people, myself included, would agree with you.

Yes Miro you have made it clear you prefer dogs to people. Personally I prefer my own species every time. I find it really sad those people who choose not to have kids and mollycoddle a pair of pooches as their "babies".

I think the land grab is an absolute disgrace and feel sorry for those caught up in it. I think you are most at risk buying a place with a plot of land just outside a town - a prime place for redevelopment and building of new urbanisations. It is not just the foreigners who are targeted. In the Vale...

You could try Hotel Hurricane near Tarifa. Do a google and you'll soon find it. I haven't stayed there, just driven past on the way to Conil.

I had a quick look on here:- http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=refrig.display_products_html and it seems most fridges use between 250 to 700 Kw hrs per year. If we take 500 Kw hours average for 1 hour we could expect 0.057 Kw hours to be used. That would only be 57 watts per fridge or f...

2 Kw in a hour with just a fridge and freezer sounds way too much.
Are you sure nothing else is on, like A/C? Or maybe you are powering your neighbour! Try turning off fridge and freezer for a few minutes and see what happens.

I like my holiday home too and don't disagree with Kenny. Like I say I only get 4 weeks per 52 in Spain whereas Kenny is upto 10 or 12. That alone is enough to make a big difference, certainly with regards to the financial side of things.

I think all of Spain is extremely busy in August. Where my flat is in the Valencia region the beaches are full of fat noisy Spanish kids with a few Brits/French and others thrown in. I have always tried to avoid August preferring July and my favourite month, September. I think the climate of the Can...
