I know most of you are moving money the other way but we've just moved out euros from the house sale back to the UK with Currencies Direct. Bancaja transferred it the them within a couple of hours and CD put it into our bank account on the same day, excellent service :D I think it helped that our ba...

You've done a fantastic job with her, maybe you could be a foster mum for one of the rescue centres now

Moving On - Update

Hi Folks, it's been a while! Almost two months in fact. We've been back in the UK about 7 weeks now, in Scotland since 1st August due to delays caused by the usual family stuff and a health issue. I'm very pleased to report that the stories we have heard so often on here about the demise of the NHS ...

Got the highlights of the Isle of Wight festival on TV at the mo. The locals there have also taken their own food and drink - and are selling it to the incomers

The vets do offer a reduced price service to the shelters, after all it's steady business for them. I suspect the reason they don't do it for the public is that they have been scammed in the past by people claiming the dog/cat is a stray. Having said that I've seen our local vet check for a microchi...

Do you have any animal shelters near you Peter? Some of them offer veterinary care at a reduced cost, though it's usually only for strays if at all. Other than that the only free or reduced price 'care' I've seen here is the annual rabies vaccination programme.

So glad that wasn't bad news. I had my fingers crossed on one hand while clicking the mouse with the other :? Have you tried doing the round of the shelters again yet. You never know when a space in the kennels or even a foster home might become available and you could always try a bit of gentle bla...

Thanks again, she has offered to help sort it out 'but will have to charge us'. It was our 1st tax return here and a mess all round. We had 4 different lots to pay and some forms were re-printed - 2 of them because the system wouldn't accept the apostrophe on my name - said she had never come across...

Our tax adviser split the payment, ½ immediately and ½ in November by direct debit. She didn't ask first and we preferred to pay the full amount straight away so we did. They're now chasing us for non-payment of the November payment :? We've now managed to get through to a national number by phone b...

Tributaria

Does anyone know if Tributaria offices open after siesta? I know we could phone and ask but not until they're open again and as they're about an hours drive away wanted to get there for opening time if possible. The B@st@rds are demanding payment plus a late fee for non payment of taxes we paid 6 mo...

We went for the day with friends last year and I was pleasantly surprised by the place :D Probably because of everything I'd read on here and other forums about how dreadful it was  It was also February so not a lot of tourists about and we were able to drive straight in and found a parking sp...

Our local petrol station was still coned off this morning but several people where filling up when I drove past again just before 2.00.

It's at Los Gallardos between jct 525 & 520 of the A7 and is just a short detour off the motorway if anyone is passing through and needs fuel.

Sorry Karen I don't, I only really know the Almeria area. Hopefully someone who lives nearer to you can help or google perros abandonados as I know there are some private Spanish shelters around as well and they probably struggle for volunteers even more than we do. In the meantime if you know of an...

An Alternative Way To Help Abandoned Animals

Kenny posted this in Troglodyfae's thread about her rescued dog and I'm sure there are a lot of other people who feel the same way. Have to agree................not enough people like you about, you sort of make me feel a bit useless when it comes to situations like that. Kenny Well it may not help ...

From today's guardian The Spanish government said it would announce measures tomorrow to ease the strain of fuel price rises, in the hope of reaching a deal with lorry drivers by midweek. The measures included allowing hauliers to make financially favourable changes to their contracts during times o...
