Re: Taking on Water and Electricity accounts (+- phone line)

Welcome to the forum, AndyLucyOne :) We bought about 14 years ago and also used the abogado recommended by the estate agent. When I look back, and having heard all sorts of horror stories, I can hardly believe everything went so well. I really hope you have the same experience. For us, the abogado s...

Re: Looking to move to Andalucia

You're looking for a detached house, then, Sue? The inland villages, such as ours, are composed of attached townhouses, as far as I know - adosados. Campo villas can be quite isolated, although of course you might find one within walking distance of a village. Not being too close to neighbours but n...

Re: Looking to move to Andalucia

Welcome to the forum, Sue. If you want to be on the coast, have a look at Almuñécar on the Costa Tropical. I would say probably everywhere on the coast heaves with tourists in the Summer but a lovely town like Almuñécar is probably worth it, a beautiful place to live for most of the year, I would th...

Re: Registration of S1 form

I think it's good to hear about other peoples' experiences, whether they be good or bad. I had probably heard more negative accounts than positive ones of the process of obtaining residencia, or registering as a foreigner living in Spain, at the police station. All the problems I'd read about helped...

The Peña Flamenca Niño de Vélez https://mivelezmalaga.com/whats-on/flamenco-abierto-october/ I've seen Antonio Guerra - he is a wonderful flamenco dancer and I do like flamenco dancing but not too keen on the singing..... There's a link within taking you to info about th...

Re: Residencia - sufficient funds

El Cid is right - proof we owned our own home, with no outstanding debts on it was all that was needed to convince our funcionaria at the police station we wouldn't be a drain on Spain. I had brought bank statements showing our monthly state pension going into our bank but that wasn't accepted as be...

That is so true, Gordon. Listening to the stories of our Spanish friends here gives us a much clearer picture of who they are.

Re: Do You Know ????

I do know a little bit about our house. When we bought it, it was attached to a ruin next door. The ruin has since been demolished and a lovely new house, built in Andalucian style is there now - looking at it, you wouldn't know it wasn't an original old house, the builder used old doors, shutters, ...

A frightening experience, so pleased you were cared for so well throughout it. I hope your appointment comes through quickly and you will soon be given perhaps longer term treatment to return you to good health.

Re: Where to move to Andalucia for 6 months?

If your son doesn't need to be at school from June to August, come to Canillas de Aceituno! (The school is for younger children)There are lots of lovely white towns, which you already know, of course but I would recommend mine because it doesn't get too touristy in the Summer months. Have a look at ...

Re: Weather

The suspense is getting to me! I put my washing out at about 3 then half an hour later brought it in again, as it started to rain and thunder was rolling around the hills. No sooner had I brought it in than the rain stopped and it's been very hot and humid since. I just can't wait for a good downpou...

No worries, Sid - Wicksey and I are chatting by PM now. Meteogib also have a website. This is a good chart for cloud and rain. Moving the blue orb takes you along, daily, as far as September 5 . The dates are top left above the chart (took me a while to figure out the point of moving the orb along t...

Re: Weather

Wicksey, I'm hypothyroid, too after my hemithyroidectomy a few years ago. It would be interesting to get my vitamin levels checked - I did get vitamin D checked just before the Summer and it was OK. Hopefully, after such a hot Summer, it's better than OK - I do try to spend a very few minutes in the...

Re: Weather

Hi gasman - I have recently discovered we need 4,700 mg of potassium a day and 1,500 mg of sodium (amongst other minerals etc, of course). Bananas are a good source and luckily, potassium is in plenty of other food, so I make sure I get enough. It's interesting, isn't it? The different balance of vi...

Re: Weather

Wicksey, we really love salty food and I am craving it even more in this hot weather. I know salt is one of those things that is either good or bad for you, depending on the ideas of the moment but I've never cut back. I think my dad influenced me - his food always had a little white hill of salt on...

Re: Weather

Oh yes, I wouldn't argue with the facts. It's just how I've felt this year - hated it more than usual, must just be my ability to deal with it, rather than the actual temperatures. :( On my 60th birthday, we went on a family camping holiday to Lake Garda. OH and I flew to Italy and the family mainly...

Re: Weather

Eeek! From one extreme to another! So....it's been a cool Summer, FAL ? (comparitively speaking). I guess I must just forget each year how hot the Summers are. Or I don't cope with 'em as well, as I get older. To me, it's been really sweltering this year and I have been a hermit for a good part of it.
