Re: Huge pall of smoke

Elviria is badly burned, basically from the toll road up, infact it is worse lower than higher, and Calahonda too. Terrible to see. I've seen lots of bad fires here but this was the first time I was actually frightened and packed a bag! There is to be a concert at Puente Romano on Monday evening to ...

Re: Encouragement needed...........

Oh dear, you must be so upset. Sorry to hear you have been a victim of the bad weather in UK. You won't need much encouragement, once a little time has passed and the mess is somewhat cleared you will want your garden looking good again. I think if you have always been a keen gardener and enjoyed wh...

Re: Buying Roses

Resurrecting this rose thread Sid as I am in gardening mode at the moment. Your beautiful climbers, are they quick growers? As for pruning climbers, how far back do you cut them. Would the climbers succeed in a very large deep trough? Any special tips on taking good care of them? I've never, ever, e...

Re: Clematis

Thanks for replies. The lady at the garden centre said they do well in the north obviously, and they have only just come down here. I will try one in a pot. The front of the house has shade most of the day, infact where I want to put it would never be in full sun, though of course the heat alone may...

Clematis

Is anyone successfully growing clematis of any kind?

I've seen some at the garden centre, and would like to try one in a large pot which would be situated in a fairly shady area only getting sun from late afternoon. I've not actually seen any growing in gardens anywhere I look.

Re: Our beautiful kitten is missing

Oh dear. Hopefully she is okay. Numerous times I think my cat has gone missing and turns up a couple of hours later telling me about her adventure.
Hope you find her soon.

Re: visiting Granada

As Frank has mentioned, the view from the Mirador San Nicolas is not to be missed, particularly at night time when they light up The Alhambra. We like to walk up to it, (all up hill) but you can get on one of the little buses that go all over the city. There is a bus stop just outside the Alhambra. ...

Re: VISITING ROME

Roma Termini is pretty much central to the "modern part" of the city where the fancy shopping is on Via Veneto . You can walk from there to various sites, though if you are only there for a few hours it may be difficult. It's an incredibly busy City. If you just want to see as much of it a...

I posted a question re wood burning fires. Infact I posted 2 by mistake and edited one to say double post. Sid have you deleted both? Re: Rescue dogs & cats

I agree with you TJ (hope you are enjoying life in UK as much as the dogs!) If you are an animal lover and you want a pet then surely you give a home to one who doesn't have one. Seems simple to me, and these posts prove that a lot of people on here are true animal lovers. I've just about convinced ...

over 40 pets rescued by less than 15 people.
quite something isn't it :D I'm still trying to convince a friend not to buy from a breeder in the local paper, and save a dog from the rescue centre instead.

Rescue dogs & cats

This is purely out of personal interest after a long conversation I had with someone regarding getting a dog. How many rescue animals do you have, or have you had whilst living in Spain? I have one rescue cat, rescued from bad owners rather than a rescue centre. I would have another but she just wil...
