Re: Plus Valia

Maureen I'm no expert, just a victim, but AFAIK yes, everyone pays it when you sell a property. The amount is determined by how many years you've owned the property and the value, sorry the official value! I've read in the past that the average is about €3,000 but in our case and others we know of i...

Re: Internet/ISP recommendations for Benalmadena/costa del sol area?

Well no such luck for us. After the initial joy we were then told that we had to get 13 owners up the street from us to give permission for a cable to be added to the existing wires going over their properties. Printed out letters, added post paid return envelopes and became a postman. Unfortunetly ...

Re: Internet/ISP recommendations for Benalmadena/costa del sol area?

Based on the mention here I contacted Olivenet having been told by several other outfits that fibre was not available in Montealto. Got a reply right away to check exact location and told that if we got permission from community admin they could install it for us. Paperwork all done within 48 hours ...

Yes Evelyn, it's on a sloping roof. All be it a very shallow slope which is likely to be the reason it had leaked in the past.

Re: Cuacho with fibre

Thanks Country Boy. Ah, yeah it is a pitched roof, very shallow pitch mind you but sloping with curved tiles. It had been painted once before we bought it and we're just about give it another few coats before putting some solar panels on it to be on the safe side. Interesting to see we both joined w...

Cuacho with fibre

We've been advised to paint a tiled roof with cuacho and a layer of geotextile, although so far I can only seem to get rolls of fibreglass matting rather than geotextile. However I wondered if anyone has used the guacho con fibre, rubberised paint with fibres already mixed in, and if that was any go...

Re: How to claim plus valia with tax office

Well a wee update from me, now that we eventually heard something back for our lawyers! It seems that just showing the titles showing the price paid and the lower selling price is not enough. We need an "expert report":- "To make the claim, together with the lawsuit, we must provide a...

Re: How to claim plus valia with tax office

Sorry to revive this topic, hope that is okay! Can I just ask if anyone has managed to reclaim Plus Valia yet? If yes was it using a lawyer or DIY? We've had a lawyer "working on it" for 6 months but no progress although I am sure they have not done anything at all yet so wondered if anyon...

They are somewhere near Montoro, east of Cordoba. It was mentioned that they were 20 minutes down a track, but in that area anyway.

Re: Use of a Generator during Power Cuts

I'm certainly no expert on electrics but could it not also run back out to the grid and fry the poor chap fixing the fault?
I know that in UK you need a G59 box to prevent this from happening during a power cut.

Re: Aluminium persianas

Sorry, have I got it wrong? What we had fitted were folding louvre doors rather than the usual roller shutters but they were certainly called persianas on the quote and the invoice. However I've just checked and the roller shutter we had fitted last summer 200 x 220 was €305 with the option of an ex...

Re: Aluminium persianas

Hi Weescottie Seeing as no more up-to-date replies I can tell you we had some fitted 5 years ago and it was €1800 for 240 x 210. I have to say we thought they were a great benefit in that you could leave the louvres open at whatever angle and let some air flow though the open patio doors. If you nee...

Re: Red Palm Weevil

If you do get some Confidor can I just say to put plenty on the crown. I had been using it but concentrated on the trunk (as I had read that somewhere) and we lost 1 of our 2 35 year old palms to the wee sods in December.

Re: Malaga car hire.

100% agree - "you makes your choice & pays the money" Last week we gave Goldcar a go despite the piles of grumbles you can read but thought it was worth a go at a Juke for 5 days for €24 in total, not per day! Needless to say they wanted €100+ for the extra insurance cover but took €14...

It isn't only on Apple, there is an Android version too. A wee bit finicky but does the job although I do agree with the comment regarding the 24 hour limit but that is not that unusual.

Re: ryanir booking

Yes the €110 is the name change fee if done online, it's €165 at the airport or by telephone! But, as I said, "in my experience" they have twice made slight corrections for only the cost of the call i.e. either 10p/min or £1/min.

Re: ryanair booking

In my experience if you call them they are happy to make small corrections to a name. It will only cost the price of the call and saves a lot of worry.

Leaking roof terrace

Wonder if any experts out there can advise if we need to lift the existing tiles on our roof terrace or can we put a new membrane on top of them and the re-tile?
