Re: Monarch Airlines

Trying to ring my bank today in the U.K., Santander. normally just a few minutes wait but ended up waiting over 20 mins first time and 18mins second time. Luckily freephone no. Gave up in the end. The reason given by automated response for the delay was for customers who'd been affected by Monarch c...

Re: Ryanair luggage change

What puzzles me is that there was never enough space for everyone anyway in the overhead lockers, so it was usually the first 150 bags that were allowed , after that hand luggage was put in the hold for free. Therefore if you were early in the queue your bag was in the locker. This was before you we...

BBC 4 Blood and Gold The Making of Spain

Just caught this tonight on BBC4 at 10p.m. With Simon Sebag Montefiore First of a 3 part series of the history of Spain.
Mesmerising and highly watchable, Cadiz, Córdoba and Seville covered tonight, lots of fascinating facts, certainly new to me.

Re: Moving to UK-

Hi Miro, Glad you're finding your way around Southport, one of the things I miss most about Spain is a cup of con leche and of course the price. However, the nearest taste I have found to it, apart from my Tassimo machine, is a latte with an extra shot of espresso, even better when it's free from Bo...

Re: A weekend in Seville?

spanish _lad,
have you tried your local travel agent.
Every time we went over to our holiday home, there were loads advertised and so cheap.
We went on the most amazing cruise with ours and they also did great days/weekends etc, worth a try.

Miro, take a deep breath and keep telling yourself " and this too shall pass"

I've been doing exactly that since December, but am still deep breathing, and muttering the above!

Yep, got that, believe me he has everything, and I mean everything that is needed. Apparently all is in hand and I'm not to worry. How many times have we heard that phrase/platitude? Anyway I've got a straw hat somewhere which I will willingly eat, if it all turns out o.k! Patience is a virtue, ther...

Re: Next viewing trip booked!

Miro, our buyers lawyer changed over the water/electric contracts on the day we all signed. Our bills were due a week after we were leaving, and so we actually gave the new owner enough cash to pay them. as I was closing our bank account. The original owners name was still on our contracts but nobod...

Re: Plus Valia

Hi Canela,
Would the calculator not let you put in the date you bought your property?
Can't see the town hall not getting their money's worth!
Maybe another member will be along with more info.

We'd had ours 10yrs and the calculator was spot on with what we had to pay.

Try this link

Don't forget to put in the Suelo figure in, not the full Valor Catastral figure.

Hope this helps, if stuck, there are posts about this.

Re: Making offers for property

I would have thought buyers would be better paying for the furniture etc separately, after all if the price includes it then they are paying transfer tax on the full amount and depending what is included could add up. Also bank repos can have a nasty way of coming back to bite you if the taxman deci...
