Re: Official documentation of reaching pension age

and meanwhile, all this is costing you money and time ... for something that is yours by right - I feel a moan to the bank manager, with copy to the bank's head office, coming on ... This really is getting ridiculous!

Re: New here

If you are now in France as your location indicates, you probably know Leroy Merlin, bricolage and DIY superstores - they are in Spain to, along with Bauhaus and various others. Look at what they have online and see if you find anything of interest. For any detailed advice about the gardening side o...

Re: Old Dell computer - disposal

To EbnFlow - I am with you all the way on that ... since XP got the shove from Microsoft, it has been languishing in a corner, but with the keyboard half-knackered, the battery dead for several years now, and no direct link to use the DVD player onto the TV, it is just past its sell-by date ! It had...

Re: Correos mail hold

Yes - use the neighbour - we had to do this one time when we were away for a couple of months. The main problem, as we had discovered on a previous occasion, is that if any official documents, parcels, or other oddments come, with the usual notice being posted into your box - if noone take attention...

Re: amazon

I agree with Sid on this, especially if you are not at a "recognised" middle of town address - if anywhere in the campo, I suggest you check the details as you are filling in your delivery details and there is usually an option to opt for the local Correos as your collection point - may be...

Old Dell computer - disposal

Hello I have an old Dell Inspiron laptop computer which still has Windows XP in it. I suppose a boffin could upgrade it with a new system, though it may be too old even for that .... AND its keyboard is failing with the central keys of the main character board not working, and several of the keys on...

Re: autonomo, iva for car refundable?

PS - it will be a lot easier to do all you need to do, having registered as becoming Resident first, which gives you your NIE number, gets you onto the Padron at the local Town Hall, gives you the right to apply for Social Services, giving your intended status as Autonomo, or whatever status you dec...

Re: autonomo, iva for car refundable?

It is over ten years since we did all that but I do not think much will have changed. We imported our work-horse Defender Land Rover from France when we moved and set up the Autonomo. As it was our only car, it was considered dual use as business and family, so was considered at 50% for all costs, w...

Sorry, personally never been but interested to see that some old parts of town are getting revival attention -...

Nothing has happened yet ... So Lavanda, what happened when you went to the bank on that Tuesday some time ago ... and why has nothing happened yet and we are well into March now - did you clarify if they want you to be 65, or whether they are stuck with wanting a spanish document to be provided fo...

Re: Who owns the entrance area?

When you completed the renovation, putting the two houses together as one, did you get a licencia de occupacion and/or fin de obras certification - that would include plans of the property, and should have included (researched by the architect?) the floor plan, presumably from the archway, and thus ...

Mimosa which you also see in abundance behind Cannes in France, small yellow balls in multiple big clusters, with fine feathery leaves - related to the "sensitive" plant who has the same leave type. A version of the Eucalyptus, which is also often called Mimosa, which has leaves more like ...

Woollie - Olive, is, I believe, a chap, and very knowledgeable about all things rural in Spain.

In general, the big problem is getting a builder that you can trust, that is not too busy to take the job, and can quote a realistic price - getting an estimate from our locals is the hardest thing!

Re: Dama de noche question

Ours have never got berries or seeds ... ours were already planted out in the garden when we arrived over ten years ago and we have only lost one which was in a particularly dry patch during a drought. The others are fine and one is practically a tree now, 8 ft high, and needs pruning to tame it. If...

They do tend to drop their leaves over winter, but with it being a mild one this year, some of our branches have retained their leaves while others have dropped off! New shoots and leaves are also starting to grow - poor thing is confused. As long as your twigs still have green, flexibleness and hav...

Re: How to get a final statement for closed bank account

We left Santander Spain after a disagreement and supposedly closed all our accounts and got final statements for each, showing 0.00 euros as the last amounts were transferred out to other accounts or into our hot little hands ... several years later when an investment account "reached" a f...

Re: Bringing my dualsport Suzuki to Spain

If cars have a modification (like our Defender land rover has a winch on the front) you can get an engineer to make a report (informe) at a fee of course, to detail what the vehicle has, and whether the modifications come within some sort of standard - eg ours was fitted by Land Rover as homologued ...
