Re: Thinking of buying in Andalucia...

Lewis - welcome to the forum. Do you know which part of Andalucia you want to move to? Perhaps you meant Almuencar? Take a look at various online property market websites first to give you an idea of prices, what you get for what you want to pay! Most of them will have the option to do the value in ...

Re: French person and Spanish residency

As to a local specialitst, I the MiL near you at Frigilana? If you can say where she is going to be based, someone may come on with advice as to a nearby Gestor who can help with a lot of the above process - she would be advised to find out as much as she can about the French side of things, and the...

Re: French person and Spanish residency

Might I suggest she does it quickly, and declares herself resident in Spain from 1st Jan, so that she officially left Spain on 31st December? Helps if the deed is done at the end/beginning of the tax years. Otherwise, moving from France to Spain, as we did, should not give too much in the way of com...

Re: Gestor for matriculation in Jerez/Cadiz

But does anyone know of a Gestor who could help with the Engineer to do the report, if necessary, and to check on value of the various duties/taxes to be paid - in the Cadiz area - Chiclana perhaps?

Is your local health service on strike?? Ours went on a major go-slow last month and no appointments were available at that time - service was still running at the Centro Salud, just that you had to turn up there and ask at the desk!!

Re: Bats

spanish name for bats - murciélagos Quick google search came up with the fact that there are several endangered species of bats in Spain. Also, apparently they rarely still carry Rabies, so do not get bitten by one!! http://secemu.org/en/los-murcielagos-espana/ This shows that all species of bats ar...

m&m&d - you mention the possibility of a new-build in the Marbella area - I am sure locals will come on soon with further advice, but I would be wary of such an idea. That area has one of the worst reputations for dodgy construction, as regards planning permission, rogue operators etc etc. P...

Re: Electric Fire

Perhaps another thing to think about is your power supply - we in the campo are on very low amperage/wattage or whatever it is - basically if you put too many high-powered items on at the same time it will trip out ... 2 kw fire, plus kettle, plus fridge/freezer ...ploooffff

Re: Meeting English Speakers near Velez Malaga

Welcome to the forum - I am sure someone will be along soon from near your area. If you are only just venturing out, suggest you find a comfortable spot in a bar or cafe not too far from your spot in the campo and watch the world go by first. Get hold of the local newspapers and see what is going on...

The Dakkar is on Teledeportes on the spanish channel, in spanish of course but they do a nightly round-up ... We have never taken to the "Dakkar" since, a) it stopped going from Paris, and b) the final straw, when they swanned off to South America - on solely a very temporary basis, and th...

Yep - rubble could well be a problem as it is classed as inert-building/construction-debris ... can you not smash it up and use it, perhaps a new path, filling in potholes in the road?

Re: Partial house letting.

For an easier life, if you are going to be having tenants, long-term, I would suggest you make sure you have separate entrances to the house, and even better would be separate entrance to the plot for cars, so that in effect you and the tenant-s have a little contact as possible, to keep it more on ...

M*Al - your experience in the Canaries may be different to Torrox - myself I would be wary of trying something under the radar and would be happier to have it done above board, with the hassle of planning permission if necessary.
Lyric, - keep it legal and save yourself some headaches.

I think it is sort of understood that you should use your local one, but we have never been asked for proof of address --- As TdA noted, there are special dumps for Trade Waste, so do not turn up at the wrong one - they are restricted for trade/construction etc only.

Re: olives

It was common practice in the old days, and still in some plantations now - particularly in France! - to plant three or four saplings together, each leaning out a bit, so you eventually get a group of mature trees masquerading as one big tree. Another method is to grow one single tree but to prune i...

I thought the somewhat intrusive adverts top and bottom of the threads paid for the site. I was surprised to see this blatant advert allowed as a thread. But I can see that it does come under the category of Events ... some adjustment to the Rules will suffice then ...
