Re: Diving from Sevilla to Algeciras the best way

The A4 coming south from Seville becomes the AP4, as in Autovia Peage 4, and then you follow the signs off to Algeciras which merges you onto the A4. The N4, marked on the road signs as N IV, is signed off just before the paying part of the AP4, and takes a longer route and takes you to the west sid...

Re: ITV Solicitar Cita

We have found a couple of times that you need to give the system time, after the issuing of the letter, before you make your application for a Cita on their website. It seems to be a sort of mañana syndrome where you would think that as the letter is sent out, the details would be fitted into the co...

Re: Residencia in Malag

Sid - the S1 is the proof of status as a state pensioner from an EU country. OP says he can get that, so should be OK? Private insurance for health care is irrelevant, if he wants to use the health service. Pots of money coming into Spain, or not, is irrelevant. He just needs S1 to prove that he is ...

Re: Residencia in Malag

But if you are a UK pensioner, and EU citizen, all you need for health care is the S1 - for residencia all you need, as a UK/EU pensioner, is your ID - passport, proof of address - elec bill or escritura/contract for renting, marriage cert if relevant (no need to translate any of these), maybe birth...

Re: Annual health check

Yup - just go to your local GP at the Centro Salud and ask. It may be up to you to remember to do it each year, if you want an annual check. Otherwise, if they find anything interesting, they will of course follow it through, and then may ask you to do six monthly or annual checks depending on the p...

Re: 2018 road trip to the Casa. More ideas like last year please.

The problem at or near the border is that the main roads do follow the coastal area because of the rapid rise of the mountains, an alternative would be to go across to come down into Spain via Pamploma but that really is out of your way if you are set on Burgos as part of the route, So inside France...

Re: Right time to prune Oleanders and how?

Our dogs show absolutely no interest in our various bushes, except perhaps for the male one to pee up! We do take care to dispose of trimmings out of the garden, either burn or take to local disposal centre. Best to prune at the back end of the year and burn - they will happily grow back from very s...

Re: living in a motorhome + insurance

Following Woollie + Gerry's advice ... if you did find you particularly liked an area that you might like to call your base for the future, you might have time to search out a gestor, english speaking if need be for you, and discuss your tax situation and when is the best time to move regarding your...

There may also be something about the sliding door, or even opening door for access to the living quarters, being on the wrong side - ie opening into passing traffic - not sure on this one but worth checking ... Rematriculating a camper in Spain from abroad is fraught with disaster and implications....

Re: Internet supplier

If you have a computer shop and/or mobile phone shop in your town they might be able to tell you of availability of Wifi - if all else fails go for a satellite installation. They are still providing the equipment and installation free and you should be able to get an unlimited fairly fast Gb service.

Re: Málaga hospital appointments

Agree with TdelA - go to your doctor - the one that referred you for the scan? or your Centro Salud GP. They may even have access to the scan and if not can certainly chase the appointment up for you. Do not be put off and indicate the pain you are suffering. You should not have to go private, and i...

Have you considered what we call Swiss Chard, like a kind of perenial spinnach, which grows practically wild in the south of Spain - will self-seed, is water-shortage hardy, and which is also quite tasty, if you like that kind of thing? It is called Acelga in spanish. Not sure you will have much suc...

Re: "You have no Data Connection" android mobile

My Vodafone smart 6 phone reckons to update its Android from time to time ... not sure what version it is actually on but the phone is about 3 or 4 years old - every now and then it suddenly decides it has no signal via 4G, 3G, H or H+ (what are H and H+ plus anyway?). I Googles of course the first ...

Re: found a dog who do i call?

First point of reference is to find out if it has a microchip - all dogs should by law in Spain, but this is Spain, and most do not have chips. Here our vets will perform this service free of charge and they have access to the main database to check back to find the vet who installed the chip and th...

Ibex does do travel insurance at what I thought was a reasonable rate - we have not had to claim from them for that but their car cover was immediately reimbursed when we had a claim on that, and their house insurance is fairly comprehensive too - also advertise pet cover but we have not bothered wi...

Not a subject I know a lot about, but unless someone else has some better idea, I would suggest you find an english speaking Farmacia and ask. You could approach a Centro Salud but that might get a bit more complicated .... Try the Chemists first?

Agree with TdelA - you very rarely see them do their do's but find the little parcels next day ... often just one or two on a windowsill especially if they hide behind the roller blinds, or attached to a wall near a plant ... By the way, we try to rattle the window blinds before letting the blind up...
