Re: Applying Online for appoinment at INSS for Health Card

I think, once you have registered the documentation with the health centre, that you can be seen by a doctor whilst you are waiting for the actual card to arrive (I hope your Dad's won't take another 3 months!). In fact the administrator who registered us asked us if we wanted to make appointments t...

Re: Applying Online for appoinment at INSS for Health Card

When we registered our S1s with the INSS in Vélez-Málaga (at the end of 2014) we were told that we would receive, by post, a document confirming our entitlement to healthcare which would take around 2 weeks. Then we would have to take that document to our health centre and register with them, follow...

Re: Postal method for passport

As it seem from what Patricia says that they are still using DHL, I am sure they will. It's their standard procedure, I have had parcels delivered by them from companies as well as my passport, and they always do the same thing. You get a text telling you the delivery date and giving you the option ...

Re: Postal method for passport

From memory (which is a bit hazy by now!) once they had received the old passport the status on the system changed from Awaiting Information (or similar wording) to Application Being Processed. There was a slight time lag (a day or so) between the courier company having confirmed delivery to me unti...

Re: Postal method for passport

I sent it by certificado so will see how long it takes to get there. I presume they'll keep me informed. It seems a better system than it used to be by post so far. When I renewed my passport, which is about 18 months ago now, the Passport Office didn't keep me informed as such, I just had to keep ...

Re: Postal method for passport

The whole process was very easy. Give your email address or phone number and you will recieve notice of day and time of delivery. It was more a question of what method for sending the old passport back to the UK Mark. Delivery back to me with the new one may be a problem if it's by courier though, ...

Re: malaga airport bus

Alameda Principal ( Sur) is, as Costakid quiet rightly pointed out, at the bottom of Calle Larios. Free at Last - Plaza de Consitucion is at the top end of C/ Larios. This might be useful; https://www.google.es/maps/@36.7162355,-4.4193273,15.5z Depends where you're starting from as to whether you c...

Re: malaga airport bus

I think your distance is more than a bit off, Costakid. Calle Larios finishes at the Plaza de la Constitucion and you then have to turn to the left to get across to the Alameda Principal. It's a good bit further than 50m. More like 300m, I'd say.

Just so long as the microchips for UK citizens are a different colour from those for EU citizens, or there will be hell to pay.

This story is in the Manchester Evening News today:- http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/flat-owners-told-pay-up-14075008 Leaving aside the question of these payments for making the building safe, the normal annual charges these residents are paying are 1800 for maint...

Re: blue passport

As far as I can see the only difference in reality will be that as UK nationals we are likely to have to queue for longer at airports (in the non-EU queue) and possibly have to pay a fee for an online visa waiver to visit an EU country - and that will be the case whether we have a new blue passport ...

Community fees vary a lot, not all are as expensive as Miro paid. Ours are €40 per month which covers maintenance of the lifts, cleaning and lighting of communal areas including the basement parking garage, maintenance of the gardens and intercom system, minor repairs, insurance and the community ad...

Re: Spain isnt cheap

We used to use bottled gas for heating in our old home and like Firsttango found that very cheap indeed, but we're about to find out how much more electricity costs as the new place has airconditioning which we'll use for heating. We had it replaced with the new inverter type for greater energy eff...

Re: The best home insurance?

Just a cautionary note about that - the insurance company has fluent English speaking staff in their claims department, but the tradesmen they send to handle the repairs don't speak English (at least none of the ones they ever sent to our home did).

Re: The best home insurance?

I thnk you only really find out how good or otherwise an insurance company is when you make a claim. We insured our former home (a towohouse) with Allianz for 11 years, and during that time made 3 claims (1 break--in, 1 water leak from a bathroom pipe, and 1 cracked wc which the insurance company sa...

Re: Mario Zambrano

In this day and age being able to leave something in a locker and walk away seems very dangerous. I can’t believe this service is available the way the world is now. The bags have to go through an airport style scanner before being deposited, so I suppose it is just as safe as carrying them on boar...

Re: Mario Zambrano

At the Maria Zambrano station, the left luggage lockers (look for the sign that says Consigna) are close to the entrance to the Cercanias station, where you catch the train to the airport. If you come into the station by the main entrance, turn left and walk almost to the side entrance and they are ...
