Re: Weather

Almost exactly two years since we left Andalucia, and still one of the most FAQs we get is, "don't you miss the weather?" Guess what? Not one iota

Re: Logistics of selling a LHD car with Spanish plates - advice please

Just curious, costakid; on what are you basing that statement? On the other thread linked to earlier here, you mentioned The Loach Brothers, but I couldn't find any definitive connection to Pentagon. Are you sure they're the same people? I'm mildly concerned by Lasky's experience, as I sold my car t...

Re: UK Car now on Spanish Plates .. possible documentation problem!

Admittedly this was about 22 years ago....but I imported a 2.4l petrol engined Land Cruiser originally registered in Germany. Since that specific model was never actually sold new in Spain, they picked the nearest equivalent on their books - the 3.0l diesel version  At the time I had too many...

Re: Health Card on Retirement

I'm not sure about this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. I remember a few years back an elderly American friend of mine, resident in Spain for 30 odd years, found that when his British wife passed away, he had to re-apply for residency; he was told he was no longer married to an EU...

Re: Champions and Europa League finals

Could've watched on 5HD, the quality of the game itself was appalling. Very disappointing for a cup final. The only highlight was the tart invading the pitch!

Re: Champions and Europa League finals

I was in Liverpool the other day and was amazed to see that many of the big sports pubs are charging entrance fees for the game :wtf: Up the road here in Southport, the annual food festival is on this weekend, and there's a big beer tent with live bands and then the match on a huge screen. As a life...

Re: Padron definitive answer

I don't believe you will ever get a definitive answer to this (referenced in Spanish law). If you have been told you should / must register (which personally I don't believe you should), ask yourself what are the consequences of not doing so? (I don't believe there are any). If it's a case of you wa...

Re: Strange email event

On further investigation, from Google suport: " Getting messages sent to a dotted version of my address If the sender added dots to your address, you'll still get that email. No one else sees your emails, and no one can take your account. For example, if your email is johnsmith@gmail.com, you o...

Re: Strange email event

Gmail the punctuation used in the naming convention is ignored. Interestingly, though, on the sign up form for Gmail, when choosing a username it says you can use letters, numbers and periods (full stops). If they ignore punctuation, why say you can use it? Seems a bit pointless (pardon the pun) An...

Re: Strange email event

Could this be a new flaw with Gmail? I've had my gmail address for years, let's say it's joebloggs@gmail.com. This week I've been receiving newsletters from a US financial company, addressed to joe.bloggs@gmail.com. Never happened before. Coincidence? My concern is, are any emails intended for me go...

Re: Shopping around for contents insurance

Wollie, the community insurance will only cover communal aspects of an apartment building, for example the roof or facade (which in reality will never be covered because any claim will be rejected on the grounds of lack of maintenance) and probably third party liability (in case someone trips down s...

Re: Shopping around for contents insurance

As you would with your UK policy no doubt, why don't you start by simply getting a comparison quote from another company? You could for example try Linea Directa - they'll call you back (in the UK) and speak English. https://www.lineadirecta.com/te-llamamos-gratis/callme.sharing.faces?lan=EN&tra...

I almost gave up on the game last night. Was Spurs' comeback even more amazing than Liverpool's?
Should be a great final.

Re: Messi

Well, it takes more than one player to make a great team, and Messi wasn't on the team described by their manager last night as "f***ing mentality giants", so who cares how good he his?

Can't wait for tonight's game; hoping for more of the same excitement!

The wrist bands do the trick for Mrs.M. No idea how they work - maybe it's the placebo effect. I find copious volumes of alcohol has the same effect for me :D

Re: Associated fees in buying a house. High quote?

I hate to put a further downer on things, but continuing the theme of: ...you will never recover your outlay... ; I wonder if you are aware of the costs incurred when selling a property in Spain? I know very few people think about that aspect, but I believe it's quite important. I hear so often phra...
