Re: Where would you advertise house sale.

Like I said, every property is different. I guess a "track" in the campo, no matter how busy, relatively speaking, is not going to have quite the same passing traffic/visibility as a town centre apartment on the second floor! Having said that, I would imagine the local "corredor"...

Re: Where would you advertise house sale.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean about the difference in cost (to what?) It's true, you do get an awful lot of timewasters - dreamers, nosy neighbours, just plain idiots who have no idea of market prices - but anyone who rings at least knows the location, which is more than can be said for ...

Re: Where would you advertise house sale.

I think it depends very much on the type of property and especially the location: is it residential/vacation, urban/campo, old/new, mainly Spanish or more foreign owners? etc. etc. Our place was a modern (2003) 2/2 apartment in a small town centre block that appeals to either permanent residents or ...

Re: Premium bond prizes taxation

I always declared the winnings as income/interest. (Is there are differentiation?) Unfortunately (I guess) it never really made any significant difference to my tax. I never lost sleep over what I would do when the million came up: I'd be gone so fast, Hacienda wouldn't see me for dust!! (I did alwa...

Just curious - if you are not already registered as residents, how did you get your son into "mainstream" school? Or is it a private school?

Re: Applying for Tax Residency

Sorry but two different advisors either gave wrong info, or you misunderstood. Being a UK passport holder does not in itself require tax residency. "Residency", or more correctly, registration at the police station is the first part of the process. Registration on the padrón (census) shoul...

Re: Applying for Tax Residency

Strictly speaking, if you intend to remain in Spain more than three months you are supposed to register on the foreign residents register (for EU nationals; you don't actually get "residencia" anymore). And the experiences of others prove that yes, the requirements literally do depend on w...

Re: Buying car from other EU country

As I suggested on the other thread you posted on, you should really check the cost of shipping first - unless you just fancy the drive for the drive's sake, it will probably cost you far more than simply using a freight company. If on the other hand you are in the market for a Spanish reg car for fu...

Re: Car insurance refund

Have you checked out the cost of simply having the boxes shipped down to Spain? Unless there's a compelling reason to buy a Spanish reg car in the UK, which considering your thought of then selling it fairly soon again, it doesn't sound like there is, it may just make more sense, logistically and fi...

Re: Does Anyone know what happens to Expats after March 2019?

Tax evasion is the obvious one, although most of those who don't bother registering will probably vehemently deny that they are avoiding or evading taxes, with the usual diatribe of "I don't have to pay taxes in Spain because I'm British/pay my taxes in the UK etc." No doubt many of those ...

Re: Sky tv in Spain

I can't remember the last time I paid the full monthly price for Sky Sports on NowTV (£34?): whenever my current offer runs out, I cancel it, and then almost always manage to get the same offer again, which at the moment is 2 months @ £20 per month. For the entertainment package, you can buy voucher...

Re: Registering residence locally

Although theoretically there's no connection between registering on the padrón and the tax authorities...personally I wouldn't risk it, even if your town hall allow you (incorrectly) to register. You could potentially end up being classed as fiscally resident in Spain - and you really don't want to ...

Re: Car insurance refund

I was with LD for years, before moving back to the UK June last year. They do NOT issue refunds for unused policies, BUT: you can opt to pay your new premium quarterly, and then just cancel the policy when you no longer need it - so the most you'll lose would be 3 months' worth. Ring them up and exp...

Not sure why it would be anything other than 21% - but surely your administrator would know? Or ask the contractors who are going to quote for the work.

Re: 2 selling prices on the Escritura

They won't want a higher rate (percentage), but the CGT will be calculated on the difference between the fiscal value on the sale, and the price you paid when you bought - which will clearly be greater than the actual gain (if any) you've made. So yes, it will affect the buyer as they will pay more ...

Re: The rain in Spain

Snowing heavily again on Merseyside right now.
I wonder how Spain is going to fund all their white elephants once the Brexit black hole kicks in? Still, at least we'll have an extra £350 million a week to spend on snow plows here :lolno:
Oh, and trains that can actually run in the snow!

This is exactly why we moved back! Just couldn't stand the weather in Spain anymore - much happier here with The Beast From The East  But joking aside, we have been pleasantly surprised at how little rain we've had since moving back last June, do not miss the filthy flooded streets of Torremoli...
