Re: Windows 10 1803 Update

Thanks for this thread... I looked for updates manually and found it and the download was fairly quick, considering I have a 55 Mb/s connection, the install took nearly two hours and the restarts around 30 minutes after that. Lots of settings, such as file associations, tap to click, external drive ...

Re: Responsibility for Payment of IBI

Just out of interest, WH, did you sell as residents or non-residents? If as non-residents, did you reclaim the 3% by reinvesting your sale proceeds in the UK? If as residents, did you then have to file IRPFs for 2015? Or did you do what we probably should have done - sell as residents (no 3% retent...

Re: Its cold!

El Cid is a moderator, he's not God! What is interesting is that global temperatures have reduced quite quickly recently, Feb 2018 was 12.75ºC. This is 0.57ºC down from record temps in 2016. This is despite the slowly increasing CO2 levels in the atmosphere. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/201...

Re: Responsibility for Payment of IBI

I was caught out on this. We left Spain in December 2014, and we had a buyer (deposit paid) all lined up. However, the solicitors faffed about so much the sale wasn't completed until March 2015, so we ended up paying the buyer's IBI for the year 2015! Oh well, some things you have to put down to exp...

Thanks Enrique. It wasn't that, I'd missed the drop down list and I now have the desktop version back on W10.
Thanks to all!

Thanks guys, I've decided to put up with it. When I try to get Skype that link tells me I already have the "app" installed after opening the "shop". I love Windows 10 but Microsoft do have some control freaky stuff going on... STOP PRESS Just noticed the drop down list which allo...

Windows 10 and Skype

Recently I noticed that my desktop version of Skype had disappeared from my PC. There was not a trace of it. It seems that Microsoft (who have owned Skype for years) have decided to force W10 users to use the Skype "app" which I had deleted, rather than the desktop version. I suppose it sa...

Re: Choosing our destination

Why have you edited your OP to the single letter "z". I came to the forum today and reading this post makes little sense. As a new member, it's pretty odd behaviour! Was your OP about making a new life in Spain? Somerset isn't too bad, you know. There's more jobs there, they speak English ...

I don't think the eclipse is view-able from the UK or Spain. Obviously the full moon will be seen, (cloud permitting).

Re: Flight delays from UK due to bad weather

Birmingham was pretty much closed all day Sunday as they couldn't clear the snow quickly enough. I watched a Dubai A380 flight on flight tracker trying to land and it looked as if it circled over the M42 area six or more times before flying off at a tangent to Manchester. Perhaps they were running o...

Years ago I had a PM exchange with forum member "mowser" aka Dave (RIP) who gave me the details of a Circutor REC2 self reclosing RCCB or "INTERRUPTOR DIFERENCIAL DE RECONEXIÓN AUTOMÁTICA". The details are here: http://docs.circutor.com/docs/M98224801-20.pdf Trouble is, I can't r...

Re: Online passport renewal

I renewed recently (in the UK) totally online except for sending the old passport back to their office in Peterborough by snailmail.
I got my son to take a digital image and uploaded that on their website.
Very good service, took just over a week from start to finish. Cost £72.50

Enrique you seem confused as to what is a non-resident. All of those listed are residents, officially: DNI electrónica (Is an eleoctronic file on a computer verifying a Spanish National) DNI (Is a Spanish National's ID card) Tarjeta de extranjero (Is a residents card for non EU nationals) Permiso de...

How sad to see the European Arrest Warrant being used for political purposes to chase after political fugitives. How much better it would be to have talks, negotiation and agreements. This won't go away, the Catalans have been after this for years.

Re: Pool chlorine/salt levels (again)

There must be salt already in the water. You can get a test kit for the salt. It should be at about 3%. That is 30kg of salt per cubic metre of water. As your chlorinator is producing chlorine, there must be a healthy level of salt in the pool. You should just about be able to taste the salt. You sh...
