Hacienda Local on line

Apologies if this has already been answered before but my search didn't come up with anything. Following our recent move, I registered with the Hacienda Local as town hall asked me to and local bank wouldn't set up direct debit for water as they said I should do it through Hacienda. No issue with th...

HomeServe Endesa - worth it?

We recently moved house and got new electricity contract with Endesa which also includes a HomeServe contract for the first year and then we renew after that at a higher price. I don't usually sign up to this sort of thing but as we're new to the area and don't yet have our own network electricians ...

Need to realign Satellite Dish

Have lost Intelsat signal. Have double checked everything and think it can only be that the dish needs realigning. Can anyone recommend anyone reliable and cheap to do it in the Fuengirola/Mijas pueblo area. Have got the family coming at the weekend for Easter and can't face the "no telly"...

Gestor in or near Espejo?

Can anyone recommend a gestor in or near Espejo? Our move from Mijas to Espejo is finally happening so we need to crack on with some of the local admin! This forum was really helpful when I asked the same question about Mijas so hopefully someone will have an answer.

Sold house- extortionate bank fees!

We've just sold our house and the solicitor has given me bankers drafts for the sake proceeds, which I intended to pay into our Banco Popular account and transfer back to the UK with a credit agency. Our solicitor warned me that the bank fees would be high but I was not prepared for a 3% charge for ...

Illegal Urbanisation

Our entire urbanisation is illegal but none of the current residents solicitors pointed this out to them when they bought their houses from the original property owners. For at least 8 years we've been going round and round in circles trying to satisfy the ever changing requirements to get our first...

I don't want to have to make the trek all the way to Torremolinos more than once if I can help it! Any gui...

Re: Bosch washing machine repair?

I used the Bosch agent for Mijas, where we are. It was really easy. Just go on to the Bosch website and it'll search for your local agent, type in what you think is wrong with your machine and a contact number and they'll ring you when they're on their way. I arranged it from England giving them the...

Re: van hire or collection ikea

Before Ikea opened in Malaga we bought our kitchen from Ikea in Seville and had same positive experience as Dawn so would definitely recommend letting them deliver. We'd flown out specially Saturday morning, ordered it late Saturday afternoon, and arranged for a neighbour to take delivery but had a ...

Form 214

I'm filling in my husband and my Forms 214 but am not clear about one thing. As we own the house jointly, do we split the figures and the tax in half or does each person pay the whole tax as if they owned the whole house? Any help much appreciated!

Hi Jarvo. There's loads for your son to get involved in both in the pueblo and along the coast and as you've already been advised, the Town Hall is a good place to start. Mijas has a football team, I don't know if they have youth teams or there are any locally. Antonio in the Banco de Andalucia is s...

I saw Mike Reid buying a lawnmower in La Canada two days before he died! Also Boysie from Only Fools and Horses can be seen walking his dog around Mijas. Saw Elton John a few years back leaving a yacht in Puerto Banus. Michelle Collins ( Cindy from Eastenders ) has a place in Benalmadena.

Does anyone have any experience of Sotogrande international school?Aside from the academics, are the children friendly and what are they like for sport? My two boys are sports mad and leaving good friends and successful teams is proving to be the biggest issue with our move.
