Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

We never had a survey on our last UK purchase. The house is Victorian but was in very good condition and from previous experiences when we had to have a survey for a mortgage, it was all pretty much a waste of time and money anyway. In France we paid a builder experienced in period property refurbs ...

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

Ahhhhh the black money portion when buying a house .... I had almost forgotten about that. The joys of running to the notary with a bagful of cash and hoping you didn't get mugged although I neatly lined a large pair of Bridget Jones knickers with wads of cash, I was so scared of having my bag stole...

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

DA loved your story of the 'Maroma view' house hunters. When we sold our first campo house here we had 40 viewings in the year it took to sell. Boy, did the agents drive us nuts bringing up people who were obvious time wasters. We had a very small 2 bedroom house so one couple had 5 children and wer...

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

I agree DA that the pricing of a property is all important but it is difficult to value campo houses as they are all so different. Everybody has varying quality of access and views and are usually very individual design and finish, so it's very difficult to price it. You have to rely on the agent kn...

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

DA we didn't do a compra venta or pay a 10% deposit but just went through straight to the sale asap. The owners were long gone and the house had been empty a year at least. It was only because the details had said that the furniture was available at extra cost and we had said we didn't want to buy a...

Re: Sold the house in Andalucia. Here's how it went.

That was a very interesting post DA. Being in the campo myself I do always wonder how this place will sell when the time comes and with all the worry of the DAFO etc. I'm glad it all worked out for you. When we bought this house the furniture was available by separate negotiation but like your buyer...

Re: Hospital Comarcal - good? Or go Private?

https://centromarysalud.com/insurances/ None that I have heard of. Bernadette is Dutch so one of them is for Dutch nationals. We always used her before we were accepted onto the NHS here but just on a PAYG basis. She charges between 30 and 45€ for a consultation. I still see her from time to time as...

Re: Ants!!!!

We co-exist with them - they don't really bother us. Yes, I have to keep work surfaces scrupulously clean otherwise I get hoards but otherwise, they don't bother us. There are a few on the floors in most of the rooms.... should I try to get rid of them? They disappear once the summer is over. It be...

Re: Retaining residency while outside of spain

You can adopt me if you want someone to leave your assets to, Wicksey? :D Oh, hang on - I'm quite a bit older than you so will no doubt go first lol. Not sure if equity release is only for UK residents on their main home there. It is an idea but would probably be taxed just as much as CGT he...

Re: Ants!!!!

We've had one or two strays in the kitchen this summer and no idea where they are coming in. I make sure I squish them so they can't go back and tell their mates about us! Even though I try to keep everything as clean as possible, when we did have a plague one time, they found their way into the spa...

Re: Parking Fine in Torre del Mar

200€ does seem a bit pricey for a parking ticket. We were looking at tickets on cars yesterday on Torrox Costa in the blue zone where people hadn't put their 'clock' in the window (you get 2 hours free parking). It looked like it said 100 but then in a lower box it said 50, so maybe 50€ if you paid ...

Re: Retaining residency while outside of spain

If we sell the property we will still be well below the wealth tax threshold. We own two houses but both are tiny and not worth that much. In the future, as we begin to receive more pension income, we will not need the rental income and the money may be spent on a second home for us somewhere, or ju...

Re: Retaining residency while outside of spain

That's an interesting question elusive as we are in the same position. The UK house is rented to a wonderful couple who look after it so well that at the moment we have no plans to give them notice and they have indicated that it is a long term home for them. However, should they give us notice then...

Re: No bags at Lidl

I'm still using one of those raffia 'bags for life' that I bought in 2005 when France stopped giving away plastic bags. Well worth the 50p! I usually have a trolley, even for small shops, so just put the goods back into there and have a supply of bags and a box in the back of my car to decant it int...

Re: No bags at Lidl

That's my local Lidl but I didn't notice when I was in there the other day as I always take my own bags. I haven't seen the paper ones in there for a while though as they used to be high up by the tills, and I thought they were a good idea.

Thanks all. Managed to copy it into a spread sheet. I think when I tried before I tried it paste it to a text document which didn't seem to work.

Re: Copying contacts list in Outlook (not exporting)

I dont understand why you are against exporting them. Export the contacts as a CSV file and copy them into Word or any other text editor. You can print them from there. Sid I didn't think that I could open the csv file in word, and also thought that I may loose all the original contacts in the emai...

Copying contacts list in Outlook (not exporting)

I've Googled endlessly for a way to simply produce a paper copy of my contacts but on the latest version of Outlook it doesn't look like it can be done. I run a separate email address for a social group and have 52 contacts. It doesn't matter what I try, I cannot print the whole list and I'm not spe...

The PC is Acer 6GB 64 bit.
