Re: El Geminids

I saw one as I popped outside last night, just falling from the sky towards the horizon towards the east, so that's better than nothing! It felt bitterly cold to me last night so I didn't hang around to look for any more unfortunately.

Re: El Geminids

Thanks Lyric, I will venture outside for a look but it's not quite the same as lying in the pool waiting for the Perseids in August!

Re: Parcel of land

The aperos around our valley continue to grow just like the old days and a house we were dissuaded to buy many years back has eventually been sold and the builders have been working there flat out for months now. There seem to be some areas that just carry on with the old ways of building an apero a...

Re: OTC drug availability

Yes you do. My wife did in UK but of course when you live here you either have to pay or if you are a pensioner and resident you get any prescription drugs at a vastly reduced price, I think 10% I mentioned the UK as ashtondav seemed to indicate that he paid for a monthly prescription in the UK. My...

Re: OTC drug availability

I forgot my supply of thyroxine for my thyroid condition, and was very surprised when I asked at the chemist that they supply it otc. I didn't even have to show the empty box with my details on it. Not only that but the cost was under 5€ for 100 tablets as opposed to my monthly uk prescription of 2...

Re: Online passport renewal

Does it tell you the sort of photo you need to upload.ie can you just take one of yourself with your smartphone as long as it has a white back drop etc and they crop down to size etc? Yes you can take it on your phone and upload it. They will crop it as necessary. There are full instructions and a ...

Re: Source of 4k films etc

Changing our LG UHDTV into the UK apps was easy, I think I just changed my address to a UK one on the set up pages. I don't have the CH5 catchup (not that I would use it much) but can other apps be added? We are lucky to get 4mbps so not sure I'll ever be able to watch UHD :( Morlandg I use SmartyDN...

Paid 17.20€ from a BP station for a Cepsa (silver lightweight) bottle yesterday. The previous one had lasted 4 months so still cheap!

102.86 GBP from here  . Why the basic cost is 83 pounds rather than the UK fee I don't know as renewal looks identical.

Re: Online passport renewal

It is presumably brand new as when you go through the questions online to renew your passport there is a then a page: "Do you want to try the new service? You’ll need to upload a digital photo as part of your application. You won’t need to post 2 printed photos. We’ll show you how to take and u...

Re: Making olive oil

Some small olive mills will press just your olives and bottle it for you. There is one near Casabermeja (Molino del Hortelano) as we stayed near there once and the neighbours gave us their own olive oil that had been pressed there.

Re: Online passport renewal

Presumably the system is the same from here Costakid? It seems that it will take longer though as they say about 4 weeks on the website. It would be good to just do the photo ourselves. It tells you exactly what is required and how to do it, then they crop it once received. I shall probably have a g...

Online passport renewal

Just been looking at the passport office website and it seems you can now upload a photo you take yourself and apply for the new passport online. Just wondered if anyone has done this? Looks a lot simpler than having to get photos taken and sending in all the forms although your old passport still n...

Re: Carrefour El Cub Card Question

Yes I got points when I bought a TV earlier this year but I don't think a TV is electrodomesticos, which I think are more like what we would call white goods, so perhaps there aren't points on those.

Re: DGT email notifications

It's already there Enrique under 'personal' in the certmgr, and also there under 'other people'. It just doesn't show up under personal on IE when I go through the certificates page under Internet Options. I have checked via Beach's link and there's nothing outstanding and as he says, the DGT should...

Re: DGT email notifications

Thank you for your patience!! Sorry .... I have found the personal area now and it's not in there but it is shown under the next tab, 'other people'. I don't know what I saw with 2019 expiry date on it but I have looked again and it's 2020 so that would be 4 years after renewal. I have a copy in my ...

Beach I cannot access my DS using the other AEAT site either. I looked at the other Testra link for checking fines. I put our car reg into the 'Seleccione un criterio de Búsqueda' and it didn't find anything. Is that how you do it? It is really just in case there was something we didn't know about t...

Re: Tube of "Deep Heat"

Allgram, having just had a liberal squirt of Voltaren Emulgel rubbed onto my old back injury, it reminded me that unlike Deep Heat this contains diclofenac, so if you use this don't then take other diclofenac or ibruprofen tablets as well.

Re: DGT email notifications

Thanks for your input so far chaps! I am on Windows 7 and I guess that IE is up to date as I bought this refurbished PC only a few weeks back. I renewed the DS last year and it's valid until 2019. When I followed Beach's instructions on how to import it into the browser it said it was imported OK an...
