Re: Dental implants

There are good and bad dentists everywhere. I was a dental nurse back in the 1970s/80s in England and some of the things I saw there going on made me very wary. It's made me very particular about my dental health and for a number of years I was lucky to have a dentist in the family that I used (but ...

Re: Problem downloading BBC podcasts

That happened to me last week. Nothing to do with my Smartdnsproxy as other iplayers work OK. In the end I downloaded it via the Avast safe browser. Just tried again today and the latest drama has downloaded OK but the previous one has this message: Access Denied You don't have permission to access ...

Re: Fuel prices

Malaga Car hire has a sales department with a 2016 1.2L Panda for sale. Our current car has had a major breakdown and has been in the garage for over 2 weeks so we are wondering whether we may need to replace that in the not too distant future, so that may change things.

Re: Itchy Feet..

Gordon that's a very personal decision that only you can make, so difficult to comment. I look forward to hearing what you have decided though! However ..... we did go to France for a few years but missed Spain too much and came back. We adapted OK to the language as we learnt at school and so had a...

USB adaptors

One of my Smartphones came with a USB adaptor for charging from the mains and I use this for charging my other phone and iPod. It says it is 5V-1A. I have just bought a new weather station that disappointingly needs to be plugged into the mains via a USB (our old one was battery powered). I am using...

Re: Spanish government planning action on owners of empty homes

There are loads of empty locales here. Every block has bricked up units below and ones we have seen for rent have been so expensive you could never run a business and make a profit from it. We have always said that they should be made into housing, but instead more blocks of pisos are now being buil...

Re: Fuel prices

Sid the Pinin was our first car here and it was an excellent off roader, particularly needed for us at the time as our track was long and very muddy. However it was only the 3 door version and we found it just too small. We then had a Focus estate car and actually managed with that for years, even w...

Re: Fuel prices

Thanks that's very interesting to know. A local car hie company has started to rent the Panda and we're considering renting one to see how it goes. Not sure if the most up to date series though. The fuel price is certainly something to consider when buying another car, and also for selling on in the...

Re: Ryanair industrial action July

It's not just big cities, but also market towns have a lot of anti social behaviour. I read the local press for where I used to live and it is a regular occurrence, not just the DM stuff. When I go out at night locally here I never see that sort of behaviour in the town centres.

Re: Ryanair industrial action July

What is wrong with people now, never used to happen. Not just young people either as have seen a few cases of middle aged in the news. But don't most UK town centres have a problem with drinkers at the weekends now? I can remember years ago our local town centre was awful during the evenings. When ...

Re: Fuel prices

Mrs W, how many times have you really needed 4x4 ? bet it's not many. I have thought about it for a while and concluded that, for most, it is just not needed. There will always be those living up an unmaintained track who need the ground clearance however. Our car has got an auto mode where it will...

Re: Ryanair industrial action July

That's what I meant, Pamela, that some routes are more likely to have problems than others. Really, any passenger that appears drunk at the gate should not be allowed to board. If you don't have hold luggage, which we never do, if you do want to take a gift of alcohol then 'duty free' is the only wa...

Re: Fuel prices

If we get a second car then it must be much smaller than the usual SUVs and 4x4s and we are wondering whether we can manage without a 4x4 now as they are so much more expensive. I have seen the Dacia Sandero Stepway about a lot recently which is a smaller car and very cheap. Really we need to get so...

Re: Ryanair industrial action July

Is it only on certain routes? I can't imagine they will have time to search everybody's hand luggage. I know some routes are more popular with stag/hen parties .... must admit I have never encountered that type of traveller when we go to or from the UK. It is mostly adults, and a lot are middle age ...

Re: Shower.

Sounds like those with gas boilers have problems. What size is the boiler, how old is it, when was it last cleaned/ descaled. That was at our first house here and the boiler was new when it was built but that was in the mid 1990's when there wasn't so much of a choice. Our current house has just an...

Re: Shower.

Any chance of installing a small electric water heater in the bathroom or closer to it? We thought about having an electric shower when we very first came here in the 1990s but then realised that our 4.4kws wouldn't be enough. When we built on a small shower room we simply installed a small water he...

Re: 2018 road trip to the Casa. More ideas like last year please.

When I lived in SW France we used to often go into Spain through the Bielsa tunnel south of St Lary Soulan. We used to visit Ainsa for the day which is a pretty little mountain town. On our trips to Andalucia we would continue on via Huesca and Zaragoza then Madrid and south. We often had our cats o...

Oh dear that's a shame. We've only ever eaten their lunchtime menu for around 10€ which we always found tasty and well made.
