Re: Resin/ Plastic furniture.

I bought a small resin storage shed from Jardin de Nerja (it was cheaper than their website price for some reason). They had what I wanted in stock, but otherwise they will order for you. They are next to the Repsol station on the main coast road.

Re: Granola

Mercadona do a granola in their cereals range. It's lower in sugar than a lot of the muesli on offer which is why we buy it.

Re: Lost Orange mobile signal

Just received an email from Orange now acknowledging there is a problem here and that they are working on it. Friends were here at the weekend with phones with various mobile providers and none of them had a service, so not just Orange. Anyway I shall wait and see what happens!

Re: Property in UK, Tax in Spain

You will also need to declare it each year on Form 720. Sid Why do you have to declare it every year Sid? I thought you only had to do a new 720 if your investments changed by more than 20k? Thanks for that. It is an investment under 50k so I do not think it has to be declared on 720. Where are you...

Re: Lost Orange mobile signal

A booster sounds an expensive option! I went into setting to manually connect to Orange (Orange help desk suggested that) but it confirms there's no signal here . I tried to connect to one of the other services that came up when I searched but it said my SIM card does not allow a connection to the o...

Lost Orange mobile signal

I read in the paper the other week that after 18 years of wrangling, Orange have agreed to remove a mast on Torrox Costa/El Morche area. I don't know if it's a coincidence but we've come back from a week away to find we no longer have a phone signal at home. Someone visiting yesterday checked his ph...

Re: Dentist

I second Michael Mannish. Especially as he will save a tooth rather than remove it which is particularly important to me. I have talked to him at length about my own experiences as a dental nurse in the UK and he does come across as honest and genuine.

Re: Calling an ambulance.

What if you don't have a smart phone with internet access? I have wondered what we would do if we needed the bomberos as we don't have an address. Perhaps they use the same system using location on the phone but presumably you need the internet. The CAB in Spain mention something similar here https:...

Re: Gas heating

I've had the catalytic ones and also one with coal effect and flame, but I don't like them as I find them fumey and they give me a headache. They are very effective and cheap to run but I only use electric heaters now. They can cause a lot of condensation, especially if you have an old property with...

Re: Dynasties in UHD on BBC Iplayer

We don't have enough ooomph to work 4K unfortunately. Us campo dwellers sometimes have to cope on 4mbps and only just get ordinary catchup to work. A shame as we have a 4K TV and can only get a fleeting glimpse of what it would look like as the picture loads initially then freezes.

Re: Dental implants

As Sid says, if the crown of a tooth (ie the visable part) has broken off but the root is still good, then a post can be put into the remaining root and a crown then fitted onto the post. However, the cost of the work involved plus the post and crown would still be substantial and I can't imagine ge...

Re: Dental implants

Olive maybe that's the dentist's charges for his labour and the materials are on top. About 16 years ago I had two crowns fitted here and they were 750€. (My friend had a single implant done in Nerja 2 or 3 years ago and that was 1000€ and took about 3 months in total, and that didn't include healin...

Re: Weather

The east coast and Balearics seem to be getting it much worse. The weather here appears to follow a roughly 5 year cycle of drought then rain. Our first visit to house hunt in 1996 was in terrible rain, 'the worse for 200 years' was quoted a lot, and that was after a 5 year drought. We had quite a l...

Re: Samsung Smart TV - change Apps region

Changing DNS settings won't necessarily get you UK apps on your TV as this is a workaround to get you access to ipayer etc. I have an LG smart tv,. I find that if i connect it to a UK VPN i have the iplayer and other UK tv apps. If i connect it direct to my non-vpn network they disappear. Reconnect...

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

There doesn't seem to be any pattern in what people get away with here. I know of a couple in a block of flats that were immediately reported for starting to refurbish their apartment, whereas others on urbanisations have done complete renovations without any licence with no comebacks. I think it ve...

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

I don't know about that. Whether it doesn't matter as the pool itself is technically removable, I'm not sure. I presume that is the reason why they say it doesn't need any permission.

Re: Surely you can't get away with this without permission

We have a poliester pool but it sits completely on top of the ground so we didn't need permission. A friend's is partially sunk though, as in the picture, and he was also told he doesn't need permission for it. In theory it could lifted out and be taken away again, the same way as it was delivered o...

I know I can get a dongle but I was trying to keep things simple. I never print from my phone and don't have an iPad and I didn't really want to have to spend any more money on my computer :( Buying a new printer is a pain as it is!

Can you get a laser printer/copier/scanner? I only print in b&w and my HP Deskjet is going the same way as the previous one in that it has stopped copying and will only scan if I go through the HP program I have on the computer. I have to scan items then print them as the copier doesn't work whi...

Re: New Car v Used Car

The quoted prices I have seen for new cars, always assume that you are taking out finance and as you say if you want to pay cash are much more expensive. Trouble is that I am old school and I hate having credit, especially if I have the money to pay cash for the item. I wondered if anyone has had a...
