Re: Rye flour

I think both Eroski and Carrefour may have harina de centeno in their Bio/ecologico sections. I'm sure I've seen it on my travels there as I make bread and I'm always on the lookout for different flour. (I have also used the spelt flour from Mercadona - I haven't bought it for a whilst so they may h...

Re: Drinking water at airports

Personally i usually do not buy water at any of the airports as i will usually have water in bag and finish at security. Then i will usually have tea/coffee on flight with food and that's it. We drink a lot of water and only very occasionally buy a coffee on the plane. We will easily drink a 750ml ...

Drinking water at airports

Don't know if it is common knowledge but you can take an empty water bottle through security and fill it airside at drinking fountains now. In Malaga they are outside every toilet although it is quite chlorinated in flavour. In Gatwick it was fiendishly difficult to locate and there seemed to be onl...

Re: gota fria this weekend?

According to AEMET it looks like it is getting very cold this weekend. Down to 7 at night on Sunday and only 16 during the day in Torrox. Of course it could all change as it does seem to hourly, but it would be an indicator that colder weather is on its way. We put the summer duvets on after a cold ...

Mine is in the router and seems to be working OK when I used it last night (apart from my pathetically slow internet connection at times).

Maro apparently has a big evening of attractions as they tie it in with their fiesta for castaña and sweet potato and they call it Maroween.

Re: gota fria this weekend?

I think we have been lucky here east of Malaga as we haven't had any damaging rain despite quite violent thunder storms and downpours. The other week when Nerja had flash floods we only had a few drops of rain so I think every valley experiences different conditions, making it difficult to predict. ...

Re: iPlayer on TV no subtitles

Yes Mark it is there as usual and shows that subtitles are on. I have tried on several occasions switching it off and back on again but still they don't appear. I could try uninstalling the app but I am a bit afraid it won't install again .... knowing my luck! On the computer the iPlayer works fine ...

Re: iPlayer on TV no subtitles

I had a look at that BBC help page already but still no further forward. My TV is the 40UH630V 2016 model so is not one of the ones that isn't supported. It's just the subtitles that have stopped working. Everything else is OK.

iPlayer on TV no subtitles

The subtitles on the BBCiPlayer on my LG TV have stopped working. I have looked at the BBC website and I have the latest version of the app but they stopped working a few weeks back. It's a pain as I often watch stuff on there just for the subtitles as I cannot always hear what is being said otherwi...

Re: Specsavers Fuengirola

That's good to hear, thanks! The optician I use here for my contact lenses is Danish and he speaks perfect English so there's no language barrier. I use Soloptical for my glasses (being much cheaper) but their eye test is fairly basic. Specsavers UK was far cheaper for my reading glasses than quotes...

Specsavers Fuengirola

I'd be interested in opinions about Specsavers in Spain for the future. I have just returned from a long weekend in the UK and whilst there decided to have a free eye test that Specsavers were offering. It's a long time since I've had one done in the UK and was extremely impressed by their service. ...

Re: Samsung J2 Prime smartphone from India bought in Spain

I have a Samsung J1 and cannot put Whatsapp (the biggest user of space) onto the SD card. Where it says move to card it is greyed out. My Lenovo phone will only put either photos/music files on the SD or apps, but not both. My Samsung is driving me mad (only 4GB) so I am going to have to buy another...

Re: Car insurance/ownership

The car is not in their name so they won't receive a tax demand for it as they are not yet the registered owner as far as they are aware. I will ask them next time I see them if they even provided the seller with their passport details etc. I don't think they will be on the padron which I had to pro...

Car insurance/ownership

A couple we know 'bought' an ancient car a year ago and still haven't got the paperwork for it, just a photocopy of the original documents. I'm not sure that the person that sold it was even the registered owner. He took them across the road to an insurance brokers and had a conversation with them i...

Mind you, my knickname came from a friend at work years ago and referred to a male Eastenders character .... she had strange pet names for all of us .... one was Tonk for some reason. Anyway it...

I use an independent insurance to cover any extra insurance, plus to cover the excess. Only about 40 pounds a year so well worth it if you need to hire a car a few times a ...
