Re: Track shown on catastro

I would think that changing the catastro will either be difficult, or take a long time. We have been waiting 7 years for the catastro to register the changes in our land boundaries. I am also surprised that a UK bank would consider lending against a Spanish home. How would they repossess it if they ...

Re: Thinking of buying in Andalucia...

Gordon, you are right as usual. exactly what I would say. Although when we bought in the 90's we had never even been to Spain before, but at least we had no preconceptions or based it on holidays here. The difference then was that a property here was a fraction of the cost of a UK one, and you could...

Re: Ryanair to Southend

There were a few Stobart boardroom spats apparently but it doesn't seem to have affected Ryanair's 13 new routes from commencing next April from there. I like Southend as it's so tiny and quiet. Stansted is pretty hellish now, not so much arriving but departing I find so bad.

Often the service will only be oil and filter and as it's only done 13k kms I wouldn't worry too much.

Just booking flights for next summer and noticed that Ryanair will be flying to Southend from Malaga from April according to their schedule.

Re: World Cup 2018

We watch the football but also like the cycling but cannot get it live as we don't get ITV4 on the 907 satellite, although it has been on Spanish TV in the past. We are big fans and always go to see the Vuelta when it passes by ..... due along the coast here next month! We were thrown what we think ...

Re: PICKING UP PEOPLE AT MALAGA AIRPORT

Been there twice in the last couple of weeks. Upto the third floor both times. Sick of all the tight ass bar stewards who are parking on the approach road because they wont pay a couple of euros to go in the carpark. i could make a fortune with a wheel clamp!! The walk seems to take forever even wi...

Re: PICKING UP PEOPLE AT MALAGA AIRPORT

The ground floor was full so I went up one floor and that was almost full too. I thought the 2nd floor would also be busy so I didn't try that, although perhaps I should have. There is a listing of free spaces by the ramps up but I never really stopped to look at them as I whizzed around!!

Re: PICKING UP PEOPLE AT MALAGA AIRPORT

For the first time in years I had to do a drop off/pick up at the airport so thought I'd try out the 'express' drop off carpark. If you are going to just offload your passenger and then go again I guess that the 15 free minutes is long enough. As the entry barriers are set a little way back from the...

Re: Land registry + legality + mortgages

Our house and all the other newer properties around us (ie 25 years or younger) are all agrario on rustico land. Our house is properly registered with the land registry and catastro. On the Goolzoom site it does show in the 'construccion' section that it is a 'vivienda' though. I also know that simi...

Re: Writing English Will in Spain

It was the law in France when we lived there that assets would go to the children and that you could not disinherit them. ( ..... a French will (or will made in any other country over assets based in France) cannot override French inheritance laws, which grants entrenched rights of inheritance to yo...

Re: Writing English Will in Spain

Just a note on Spanish wills, we needed to do ours again as they were way out of date. Rather than pay through the nose to a gestoria to do them, we went directly to a Notary that spoke English on Torrox Costa and paid 39€ each for ours. I seem to remember paying 200€ about 20 years ago originally a...

Not sure if they are fairly last minute as we only had 2 days' notice that our flight back from the UK was cancelled in May.

Jeez .... no thanks. I just thought it would be similar here that's all as I thought the reciprocal arrangement was throughout the EU. Obviously not!

Re: Temporary healthcare in UK

Thanks Miro but you seem to say it's only valid for up to 3 months at a time/max 3 months a year and needs an appointment at the INSS each time which would be a pain. I wanted a card like I had in the UK as we need cover throughout the whole year as we now need to pop back to the UK more often. This...

Re: Temporary healthcare in UK

I'm not sure I understand why I wouldn't get the equivalent of the EHIC to use elsewhere in Europe. What do I do if travelling in other parts of Europe/UK and I fell ill? I am not a pensioner and I do not work here but I am on the NHS in Spain, and had to get a letter from the UK saying I am no long...

Re: Balay

We have 2 filters on the incoming water supply, one catches the big bits of cal and the other has crystals in to soften the water. When we first moved here I was sceptical of the crystals, having had to install a very expensive plumbed-in water softener when we lived in the UK. However, it does seem...

Can't see why not if you've got the correct equipment and at least a 40mbps steady download speed.....  I'm lucky to get 4mbps A good match though last night. BBC HD through the Intelsat was good enough for us. I've got an UHD TV but guess I'll never see anything UHD on it unless Spanish...
